Guest guest
A previous Web address has much information as to where to find a medical acupuncturist near you (Jack). That site is www.medicalacupuncture.org I don't know if the people listed there have to pay a fee (as in, other, qualified people who didn't pay aren't listed!). The site incurs pop-ups, and lists the people's phone/fax #'s, address, and their credentials (DO, MD, FAAMA). No idea what some of these stand for. The site can be accessed t hrough www.drshapiromd.com And go through the " to learn more about the dr's acupuncture practices " through the I Ching symbol, near the btm of the page. The page opens to a black background with Chinese quotations. The section you want is near the btm of the page where it says " Links " . There are other references there, too. I'd probably go with a medical acupuncturist b/c they'll be covered by insurance. I would call their office if you're unsure what you're getting into (will I be " stuck " on my first visit? -- they should say yes, not to come back for a 2nd visit for that), fees, etc. When I called Shapiro's office Friday, I asked about their fees, and the person I talked to was one of the acupuncturists there who also did cupping and gwa-shah (sp). The cupping/gwa-shah sessions were $60 each (!), and she said those sessions and acupuncture ones were billed separately vs. the medical visits w/the dr., who would most likely be covered by insurance. The Shapiro link has some info you might look for when searching for your own dr. This guy has hospital privileges, it gives where he graduated from, etc. You can always check this stuff if you're wary, which is a good thing to be. glenn
