I realy wouldn't use the clay. It causes constipation in so many people.

Sometimes for a short time. But you would have to add a fiber to help

keep the system moving. I know anything that absorbs gut toxins also

messes with the good bacteria supply.

looks nasty though.

Thank you for your kind words Michelle my soul has been soothed.

Victoria I have no materia medica, can you or someone answer this question?

I am curious to know the answer myself, I am also curious t know if clay or

charcoal would have harmed or helped Michele's husband with the fluids he

was retaining, I am inclined to thing that they may have. Wha t do the rest of

you say?

Ask his various dr.s about clay.

In the same breath mention pectin.

In Western nutrition pectin used for similar reasons, to provide bulk

and to help purify one's system.

Apple pectin can be found in grocery stores for making jellies and

jams. I've found it in healthfood stores in the fiber supliment section.

My husband adds additional pectin to his gelato recipes so he doesn't

have to use as much sugar in them. (Its not that its sweet. In gelato

sugar is used to keep large ice crystals from forming in the gelato.

There are some who suggest that pectin slows down the digestion of

carbohydrates making a food, in theory, less dangerous for those with

type 2 diabetes.)

I imagine if supplimenting with something for more bulk in a diet was

suggested as a therapy, a good cook would find more ways to slip

pectin in to a tasty diet than clay.

I have no idea how one would extrapolate either clay or pectin into

TCM theory.

The clay is added to something liquid. Usually just water but you

can put it in juice. It isn't that bad unless it is a high dose.

This is a fiber Pectin, clean water is very important that's why I only use

Reverse osmosis.

Apple Pectin is a source of water soluble fiber which has a gel-forming

effect when mixed with water. As a dietary fiber, Apple Pectin may be helpful in

maintaining good digestive health.

Please try again to get that info from him. It would help a lot.

One of the most if not the most critical considerations in TCM is

Heat/ Cold. It's so critical that getting it wrong can result in death

in extreme cases.

A person can have both Heat and Cold problems at the same time. For

example, overall the person may be too Cold but have Heat in the Upper

Burner (Lungs and Heart). Or have isolated Heat due to Liver Qi

Stagnation.

Complicating things more is that there is something called False Heat -

True Cold and False Cold - True Heat. There can be symptoms and signs

that point to Heat or Cold, but they're false.
