Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I have always heard that butter is better for you then marjorine but how about smart balance. It is suppose to have the right kind of fat that is healthier. Thanks Evelyn
Guest guest
Smart balance has " good fats " incorporated into it... But, you can do this yourself AND and a better tasting product. I soften a stick (1/2 cup) of butter, add a 1/2 cup of olive oil (sometimes part grape seed oil) and a couple of tablespoons of flax seed oil (in the refrigerated section of your local health food store or supermarket). Mix with an immersion blender or a food processor, or just a fork and some elbow grease. Put in a covered container (I prefer glass) and chill. It looks and spreads like smart balance, with more of the " right " fats and less chemicals. It tastes like butter. I believe the cost is less or similar as well.... I use blend to cook with as well. Not much effort for so much gain! Mary On 8/30/07, Evelyn <everdgca wrote: > > > Hi Everyone, > > I have always heard that butter is better for you then marjorine but how > about smart balance. Guest guest
Anytime you put something synthetic or artificial in the body you are insulting the body and it will rebel and become Dis-eased and stressed. Anytime you have to hydrogenate something (change its shape and form such a liquid to solid) it is not good for you. Taking that a step further, it is when you have to add other ingredients to that item to help change its shape, like water to hydrogenate. Even though it has good fats, it has still been chemically altered and therefore artificial. Actually I've tried smart balance, way back before I knew of the dangers of trans fatty acids, and the product tasted just fine. But if something tastes good and is fake and another product also tastes good and is real, I'll take the latter. Butter is healthier and tastes better. Food doesn't stick to the pan when cooking with butter and it tastes better cooked in butter. Regards, David
Guest guest
There really is no processed product that is better for you, In fact, Smart Balance is almost the same as margerine in that, from a chemical stand point, it is one small molecule away from being classified as a plastic. Stay clear of all processed so-called " foods " . If you need a spread try carrot butter. you can find how to make that in the book the McDougall Plan ,it's very easy and fast. For frying...well we know frying is just not healthy anyway. In Good Health...Naturally Dr Scott B Raphael,N.D. Guest guest
Great idea, Mary; thanks so much for posting this. I use a bit of real butter, figuring it is better than the weird chemical alternatives. But I always wondered how I could one, make it healthier, and, two make it more spreadable so it's easy to use just a bit. This sure does it. I will be tranforming my butter soon!
