Guest guest Report post Posted October 7, 2001 I woke up this morning with a big old ugly zit. I squeezed it (I know I'm not supposed to do that, but I just had to), got the core out, and now it doesn't look so angry. Does anybody have an oil suggestion I could put on it to help it heal and go away? Tea tree neat? Anything? -- Sandy (Glad I don't have to go out in public today)

Guest guest Report post Posted October 7, 2001 sANDY i WOULDNT SUGGEST TEA TREE NEAT...oops didnt mean to yell... I personally would do german chamomile and a lavender like chris' high alt. I would use them neat, but many would shudder at this...(kathleen?!?) I would also go crazy with frequent spritzing of rose hydrosol... Guest guest Report post Posted October 7, 2001 Or, if y'all want to be safest and don't want to use any EO neat, but want to apply it to a zit (and diluting it in olive oil is not really what you want for that use witch hazel to dilute it *Smile* Chris http://www.alittleolfactory.com - " michelle morton- niyama " <lakshmi Sunday, October 07, 2001 8:34 AM Re: Zits > sANDY > i WOULDNT SUGGEST TEA TREE NEAT...oops didnt mean to yell... > > I personally would do german chamomile and a lavender like chris' high alt. > I would use them neat, but many would shudder at this...(kathleen?!?) > I would also go crazy with frequent spritzing of rose hydrosol... > > Michelle

Guest guest Report post Posted October 7, 2001 All of these suggestions are great! I applied the drop of tea tree oil as soon as I read Marilyn's message. I'll see how that works, and I'll definitely hold on to the other suggestions. Thanks Marilyn, Chris, and Michelle! -- Sandy
Guest guest Report post Posted October 7, 2001 Marilyn.. Tea tree is effective for zits- but many people are sensitive to it and it is a known sensitizer- so it may not bother you now...but it just mat creep up on you...I know some are sensitized to lavender... the witch hazel is an excellent idea michelle - Marilyn Nicholson <menicholson7 Sunday, October 07, 2001 10:39 AM Re: Zits > Hey Michelle, > > Whoops sorry, didn't mean to cause any unnecessary yelling <grin> the one drop neat works for us is all I meant............ > > Marilyn > > michelle morton- niyama wrote: > > > sANDY > > i WOULDNT SUGGEST TEA TREE NEAT...oops didnt mean to yell... > > > > I personally would do german chamomile and a lavender like chris' high alt. > > I would use them neat, but many would shudder at this...(kathleen?!?) > > I would also go crazy with frequent spritzing of rose hydrosol... > > > > Michelle > > - > > Sandy Fields <diamonique > > > > Sunday, October 07, 2001 9:04 AM > > Zits > > > > > I woke up this morning with a big old ugly zit. Guest guest Report post Posted October 7, 2001 Yep, Anyone can become sensitized to anything at any time! Reduce the risks with EO's by diluting them ... even the " safe " ones, like lavender and tea tree *Smile* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com > Marilyn.. > Tea tree is effective for zits- but many people are sensitive to it and it > is a known sensitizer- so it may not bother you now...but it just mat creep > up on you...I know some are sensitized to lavender... > the witch hazel is an excellent idea > > michelle

Guest guest Report post Posted October 7, 2001 Hi All, Are you ready for this one????? I use dried witch hazel Plaintain distelled water to mix it up and 2 drops of tea tree and I make up enough to last a day or two (2x) a day, mash it all together real good and let it sit for a minute to really absorb the liquid, then and this is the best part. I put it on the offending landmark and cover it with duct tape for about 5 minutes so it really soaks up. Look like something really scary but hey I get the bi-monthly doozy and this stuff really works. Good luck,
Guest guest Report post Posted October 7, 2001 Hi, You can get drawing salve in the store, it's sold under the name PRID. I make my own, but by my Grandma's orders, I can't share the recipe. Ours is an old family recipe passed down from generation to generation, we don't know how far back it goes. (my family is German Mennonite, close to Amish in tradition, though I am not a member of that faith) I can say it's a pain in the hiney to make if you can't get a hold of sheep tallow and have to render it yourself (BTDT). My father even used it in his medical practice to reduce boils, remove splinters (works great for that) and other things. You might be able to find a recipe on the net, any soapmaker would have most of the ingredients on hand. Here is something similar on the net, and would prolly work the same way. I don't use preservatives like they do and mine has a few more ingredients. http://www.jamarklabs.com/qurdrawsal.html or here http://www.healthandage.com/html/res/pdr/html/77700700.htm Michele -- ------ Who Wills, Can. Guest guest Report post Posted October 7, 2001 Actually, I do sell it myself, $6 for a jar that will last forever. But since it is considered a medicine, I have to follow certain rules by the FDA if I was to sell it to the general public. I'd have to produce it in an all stainless steel facility and have my scales and equipment certified by the government. Right now that is too much of a pain for me so I just make it and sell it " under the table " . I have quite a few of my dad's old patients who come calling at the door for the salve If you'd like some of the " stinky stuff " as we call it, I can send it to you for $7 (includes shipping). It's a 1 oz jar and you only need a smidgen at a time, so it does last forever, though the smell gets worse over time Michele -- ------ Who Wills, Can. Who Tries, Does. Guest guest Report post Posted October 8, 2001 As long as you did it right and didnt' push any infection anywhere else, you prolly did it right. Hot rag tha sucker several times and do it again in a few houes. This helps it drain anything that shouldnt' be there and ups the local circulation. Then make sure you keep it clean and DONT' TOUCH IT, NOT EVEN ONCE WITH YOUR FINGERS. You dont' want to introduce any infectious agents to the open skin. -Ilene, the family pimple plucker > > I woke up this morning with a big old ugly zit.
