Guest guest
Something bugs me about the manner in which these diseases are presented. Unfortunately the percentages of pneumonia-like deaths are not unusual. Nor is the actual death toll higher than " average " I remember one summer in Chicago, Il (USA) within just a few weeks there were over 500 deaths from heat stroke! That was around 1998. Not much was said about that as it afflicted only the elderly, weak and poor. Between SARS, Iraq, and a husband that killed his pregnant wife. There is nothing about the 600 teen-agers that will be killed in Los Angles in 2003. That is the " average " number the police will report for gang-related deaths. Does not include the number of survivors of gun shots, knifing or clubbing. (That is in only one city. Chicago, jersey, New York ... add them up). The police will report that crime is down - if the number falls below 600. Every year American violent deaths on the average far exceed the combined terrorists acts of Ireland, Israel, Bali. Each year 50,000 people die in American hospitals by physical prescribed and administered drugs. Yet one person takes a excess amount of Ephedrine - against the warnings - and the " NEWS " report Chinese Killer Herb and they ban Ma Huang. Schools tell our children that safe sex is wearing a condom. The condom manufactures state that condoms are only 85% safe. The " NEWS " seems to have an intent and agenda all their own. " This is not the time to drop our guard. " More than 5,300 people have been infected in China - where the disease first emerged last year - and the country has seen 332 deaths from the pneumonia-like illness. Hong Kong reported four new Sars infections and one death on Monday, taking its total death toll to 282. The death toll in Canada's biggest city, Toronto, rose to 31 on Sunday when a 60-year-old woman died. Authorities said they were investigating five other deaths that may be linked to Sars. Guest guest
I'm with you, Ed, on the SARS propoganda!! One more fear tactic in the war of terror on the public. I had a minor go-round about this on my apitherapy list....tending to the more conservative 'ole-codger-school'. While any contagious disease should be exposed, this is, after all, being spread afar by the wealthier nations and the ability of their citizens to engage in world travel. One doesn't hear much of the millions dying in Africa....nor as you say....the poor and neglected elsewhere. I think that there are plenty that see past the ruse.
