Hi Dorothy,

Thank you, thank you. This is an excellent explanation of the oils

and Bach Remedies. I'm going to print it and also save it to my

Health folder. And thank you for posting to the group. You have

been very informative and this is only my first day of posting to

the group. Eureka! I've struck oil!

I don't post here often but I have a background in Bach Flower

Remedies and so will answer your questions in relation to them.

I have not looked at the form so I will not comment on it but to

determine which Bach Flower Remedies to use you listen for keywords

that the client uses to describe emotions, feelings and situations.

Each of the 38 remedies has a key word or phrase. Many people after

they read the descriptions think " I could use all 38! " But what a

Bach Flowers Practitioner listens for are clues which allow

priorities to be established. Dr. Bach when setting up his

guidelines said that no more than 6 or 7 of the remedies should be

combined at once. The way to determine which 6 or 7 (or less) to

combines is by dealing with what is most pressing at the time.

With respect to some remedies addressing what appears to be the same

health issues, you are correct in using the term " appear " . Dr. Bach

grouped the remedies in various categories but they do address

slightly different aspects of the emotion. For example the remedies

of Aspen and Mimulus are both for Fear but Aspen is for fear of the

unknown or vague fears whereas Mimulus is for fear of a specific

thing such as spiders. So if you have fear which remedy you use

depends on whether you can attribute it to something specific or not.

I, too, am a flower essence practitioner, although not from the Bach

background. I was trained by a teacher from the Delta Gardens/David

Dalton and FES programs. Those companies explore a wider variety

than the original 38 essences, and advocate a broader application of

the essences.

You can find the " form " for the Bach remedies right alongside them at

the pharmacy/natural foods store. Some places even have a little CD-

ROM you can plug in to the computer (it's about the size of a

business card) to fill out the form, print a coupon, or scan through

the essences. This form includes all the keywords practitioners are

trained to look for, and can be a valuable guideline, but I think a

visit to a practitioner will be beneficial since they will be able to

combine the essences into a doseage bottle, prioritize the issues to

deal with, and help diffuse any " healing crises " which may occur.

I disagree with the following statement, however:

> 2) the remedies do not directly deal with physical ailments whereas

> essential oils can address things on an emotional level or a >

physical level.

Using Dandelion during massage will help to move stress that is

stored in the muscular structure out. Many report a healing effect

on psoriasis and eczema when Luffa is applied. (See the Gurudas book

for these; _Flower Essences and Vibrational Healing_, or the FES

_Flower Essence Repertory_)Black Pansy on a cold sore or herpes

outbreak can shorten the healing time and prevent reoccurrance

(Gurudas advocates the use of Pansy for any viral infections, I use

Black from personal experience). Rescue Remedy/Crisis Care/Five-

Flower Essence help to ease pain in a scrape, burn, even broken

bone.

It all depends on who you listen to. If you restrict yourself to

Bach only, the above does not apply whatsoever; many Bach

practitioners refuse to acknowledge the healing powers of additional

flowers beyond the original 38. I strongly believe that every flower

has a message for us; some need their essence to be shared, some

don't. Only through personal experience with the voice of the plants

can we examine and decide which information we choose to incorporate

into our practice and which to discard. There are some scientific

studies out there, but they are few and far between.

Of course, there are others who say the flower essences are nothing

but pure hooey. That's fine too. Not my opinion, but they're

entitled to it nonetheless.

The way I differentiate between flower essences and essential oils is

that FE's are a vibrational derivative of the plant they come from,

whereas EO's are a physical derivative of the plant they come from.

Some of my favorite sites on the topic are www.fesflowers.com (this

is Flower Essence Services, and they produce the widest variety of

North American flowers); www.greenhopeessences.com (Green Hope Farms

in Meriden, NH; a great selection of flowers from Northestern US and

the Caribbean); www.lichenwood.com (my teacher, Christine Tolf),

www.deltagardens.com (David Dalton, fantastic teacher, excellent

source for physical uses of FE's); nd www.findhornessences.com (info

from one of the most amazing experiments in plant-human relations).

Just a second opinion, one among many!

Great stuff on the Bach Flower Remedies! I haven't read the entire

thread, but thought I would just throw in that there are a lot of

people making their own remedies. When I first moved to AZ, I met a

woman who made 40 essences from desert plants. She chose those right

for me by muscle testing.

I've used the Bach remedies for 20 years with awesome results. What a

profound difference these have made in my life, especially on my

spiritual path. I've tried others and liked them, but I always return

to Bach. I guess just because I feel assured of the quality and

effectiveness 100% of the time.

As a woman in perimenopause, I wouldn't be without Rescue Remedy. I

have a bottle in my purse and on my desk at all times!

I love using the Rescue Remedy!! I am not familiar with all of the

others but the rescue remedy I carry in my purse all the time....it

can keep someone from going into shock and buy you some time for the

hopsital. My son-in-law got his whole hand slammed in a car door and

we were up in the mountains away from anywhere. He turned white in the

face and was beginning to pass out and so I put a dropperful in his

mouth and in less than a minute he got up off the ground and said he

was ready to get in the car and go.

I have used it in various situations and found it to be very

effective. 10 minutes before I have to do any public speaking I will

take a few drops and it calms down the butterflies in my stomach and I

actually feel like I can handle this. I don't like being without it.

I can't speak for the other ones that they have but I LOVE the Rescue

Remedy.

Tori,

We use it on our dogs. We had a dog that went thru a

big scare at a dog show, and made him scared to go so

we gave him Rescue remedy along with some other

remedies, we saw a big difference, which makes me

believe it works since an animal cannot lie.

I adore Bach flower remedies. I use all kinds of them. They helped me in

labor, post partum depression, childrens nightmares, getting aroaund to

cleaning, behavioral issues, depression, and more. If you are interested in

the particulars for any of these, I would be happy to go into much more detail.

I have used the Rescue Remedy (liquid) on myself and

my daughter. I find it really helps to get me calm

when I need it. My daughter, on the other hand, has a

sensitivity to it, and pees frequently and

uncontrollably when I give it to her.

I have heard that stores that sell them have a

checklist so you can match the essence to your

specific needs.

Well, IF IT IS A CON, There are many bigger cons.Try Aspen for stress, and mimulus for fear of known things. It is the cheapest medicine around, even a little bottle seems to last for ever.I use bigger writing, because it seems to shrink when posted. On 5/8/06, Dolores Enriquez <

Federal Law requires that we warn you of the following:

1. Natural methods can sometimes backfire.

2. If you are pregnant, consult your physician before using any natural remedy.

3. The Constitution guarantees you the right to be your own physician and to

prescribe for your own health.

We are not medical doctors although MDs are welcome to post here as long as

they behave themselves.

Any opinions put forth by the list members are exactly that, and any person

following the advice of anyone posting here does so at their own risk.

It is up to you to educate yourself. By accepting advice or products from list members, you are agreeing to

The Bach flower remedies may help you to find and restore harmony to your

life by soothing whatever ails you, whether it be heartache, grief fatigue or

despair.

Bach remedies were created by Dr. Edward Bach and accord with his philosophy

that every symptom of the body, mind and spirit has a message that you may

learn from. By attuning to his own mental states and becoming aware of what

was required to enable healing, Dr. Bach was guided to each flower to create

his remedies.

Transformative medicine

He found each negative mental state holds potential for positive

transformation and that through

the experience of healing you will be guided toward "wholeness." Each remedy

is specifically chosen for the emotional conditions that are currently being

experienced. Negative states are due to blocked energy and should be treated

by the remedv that best describes it.

Your mental and emotional states are complex, and any blockages within these

can filter down to your

physical body, causing negative symptoms and disease. Bach flower remedies

work through healing the patterns that have been set up, removing blockages

and treating the physical problems that are linked to

these. When choosing the right remedy, it is important to consider your

predominant mental or emotional

state and choose the flower whose pattern most closely matches what you are

feeling at this time. Sometimes a single remedy is enough; at other times you

may need several remedies -for

example, the Rescue Remedy incorporates five flowers and is used as a

short-term therapy for shock

and trauma.

SPECIFIC REMEDY

For more specific states, choose a single flower remedy or a combination of

up to seven remedies to

take regularly, until the effects are felt.

There are many books available on Bach flower remedies, giving detailed

interpretations of the mental, emotional and physical states associated with each treatment. Before choosing a remedy, you need to ascertain the exact nature

of the problem and whether it is short or long-term. This will affect the

remedy and course of treatment you choose. A short-term ailment might be

suffering a nervous attack before public speaking or an exam, while long-term

problems such as anger and resentment or an inability to concentrate might be due

to a deep-rooted mental or emotional state.

RECORD YOUR ANXIETIES

Write down a list of what you are currently feeling and the problems that

have arisen through this. It may help you to look through a list of Bach flower

remedies, available in most stores that sell them and giving brief

information on the symptoms. Then read an in-depth profile of the ones that seem to

mirror your pattern or problem.

The process of self-treatment - selecting your remedies through listening

and paying attention to mental and emotional states - is key to the philosophy

of Bach. Learning to focus on what you are experiencing helps you to

understand yourself more profoundly; this leads to the attainment of self-knowledge

and inner harmony. If you feel confused by the choices available, however, it

is best to consult a Bach practitioner to talk through your symptoms and help

gauge your underlying feelings or mental states.

The Bach remedies treat the causes of physical, emotional and mental

problems by removing the energy blocks that have initially created the issue. The

remedies are subtle but effective and can work very swiftly depending on

whether the problem is short-term or chronic.

ENERGY RANGE

The flowers used are attuned to particular energy wavelengths or

frequencies, and taking the essences helps redress the balance that has been lost

through conflict in an area of your being. The Bach designed his remedies to work

subtly with the body's energies, to help regain a natural state of balance.

Keep your thoughts positive, because your thoughts become your words.Keep your words positive, because your words become your behavior.Keep your behavior positive, because your behavior becomes your habits.Keep your habits positive, because your habits become your values.Keep your values positive, because your values become your destiny.

- Mahatma Gandhi
