Guest guest
Well, the Chinese raise every other kind of dog for food, this is not any worse or better. Likewise, we do the same with even smarter animals, like pigs. And most Americans wear dog fur/skin in products and don't know it. The only solution at all is to go vegan, which is why this former midwestern meat and cheese fiend went vegan. At first, it was kicking and screaming, but I soon figured out that it was not a big deal, and totally important to saving the earth, animals and ourselves. I mean, 'bonus' that it helped my health, you know? Since then, I've studied primarily raw vegan diets and have seen people bounce back from stage 4 cancer, Hepatitis C, Diabetes (duh), MS and more with such a diet (and no matter WHAT their "blood type")---when practiced in balance and correctly, of course (like any other diet). Look at the work Dr. Barnard and McDougall are doing with healing all sorts of diseases with a vegan diet. Read The China Study, the largest study on nutrition of all time. Animal slavery is the worst holocaust and slavery there is. Point blank. It is absolutely hellacious and is the same paradigm as black slavery. So many think they would never ever support such a barbaric institution as black slavery, but the truth is, blacks were considered "feelingless beasts" at the time and it was doctors, lawyers and other upstanding "christians" who supported slavery and even lynching. I've studied it extensively. And society hasn't changed much if we are still slaughtering sentient beings for foods "just because we like how they taste". I'm quite sure the south "liked" how scared Africans 'worked' because it was more convenient to them, but is that any reason to justify slavery? Convenience and "like" just simply don't justify such outrageous cruelty. That is simply not what "Jesus" or any other spiritual leader of choice would do, and because it is mutually exclusive to their life philosophies, so yes, that can be said even though God never said ""Go vegan" directly. Most simply don't know anything about what is going on, and because the govt goes through such great pains to keep it that way. We do NOT need animal products to survive on, blood type or not. Blood Type O's are effected by global warming and animal-borne sicknesses (spongiforms, etc) as much as anybody else. Anybody see "An Inconvenient Truth"? I wish Gore acknowledged the proven truth that the #1 threat to global warming is the methane released from the waste lagoons from the factory farming. We will have nothing, and our kids will have it much worse than that, soon enough, if people continue eating ANY meat, let alone St. Bernards. Of course that is just grotesque, but so is eating pigs, cows, chickens, and wearing leather. Spend 5 minutes watching the Leather Investigation narrated by Pam Anderson on YouTube. Watch a live, terrified and brutalized animal get thrown down, hog-tied----in front of all the other animals, who are terrified because they are "next"----and have a dull knife sawed at it's neck while it is SKINNED ALIVE. All so we can have car seats and baseball mitts. It is ungodly. Just some thoughts, everyone, but these things must be addressed before they address us.The idea of abolition wasn't favorable to the majority of during the days of slavery, but it was the right thing to do. Ditto for veganism today, but if the idea of german sheperds, dolphins, and cats being slaughtered crudely and painfuly, and usually skinned alive, strikes you as wrong or offensive, then I would sincerely and kindly suggest looking at any habits you may support that are equally unkind and causing similar unnecessary suffering. I'll be happy to send anybody any informaiton if they want. A great great source of the health, environmental, POLITICAL, and ethical benefits to eating a veg diet is on the moving EATING at www.ravediet.com for only $12.95 (or so). ALSO, the greatest resource for information about the animal industries we are so dependent on is a movie called Earthlings. It will change your life (both movies will). It is at www.ISawEarthlings.com and is narrated by lifelong vegan, Joaquin Phoenix (Gladiator, I Walk The Line, Signs, etc). By the way, my B12, iron and more are as high as a lumberjacks. My doctor was shocked just b/c I'm a woman and had these readings, let alone a vegan. There are plenty of vegan bodybuilders and many Olympians go vegan to INcrease their performance, like Carl Lewis for example. Just a thought. I don't want to spark a big debate---I write this because somebody brought up the issue of St Bernards as a food industry. Whether it is true or not, it is going on, for sure, in the grander scheme, with plenty of other dogs, cats and other unfortunate species. No diet is worth doing this to another species and ruining the earth for our offspring. Please at least consider looking into some of these sources. :-) Have an awesome weekend, everybody! Guest guest
After more then 12 hours lost where-ever, I have decided to resend this mail. See below for the original post from me. - Kenneth Saturday, January 06, 2007 1:26 AM Re: I was snooping around on Snopes.com and found this to be true?? Some cultures eat bugs, rats, snakes, even monkey brains. If it will keep me alive, I would eat it, but I would feel better if I didn't know what it was. - David West Friday, January 05, 2007 7:28 PM Re: I was snooping around on Snopes.com and found this to be true?? I live in China. When I visit the zoo, there are most breeds of dogs in cages just the same as other animals. Alsations, dalmations, and mostly big dogs. The Chinese have only small dogs as pets, because everyone lives in skyscrapers with no garden, and nowhere to walk a big dog, so all their dogs are cat sized. And yes, dog meat can be bought in the market alongside the pork beef goat and chicken.I have now reached a stage of not actually gagging when I visit the market!! We have to have compassion for cultures different to our own, and remember that the Chinese do not make war, so we take the good with the bad.David.NEWS FROM THE TIPI <cherokee419 wrote: GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!! - HAH Friday, January 05, 2007 11:38 AM I was snooping around on Snopes.com and found this to be true??
