Guest guest Report post Posted May 22, 2007 Hi I just happened to do a small search on this cause I recently went to a holistic eye doctor who prescribed eye exercises to improve vision-- I am curious if this problem of yours is new or has happened on and off in the past. I don't really need to know the answer - but for me it has.. the search has answered why it happens.. * Fatigue or lack of sleep * Over consumption of caffeine * Physical or emotional stress * Anxiety or phobias * Brain damage or other neurological disorders * Associated with temper tantrums (especially in children) * Eye stress associated with extended viewing of the computer screen * Epilepsy So some natural ways to overcome any of these are obvious, sleep more, avoid caffiene (stimulants), relax (meditate), try to be mindful of when you are anxious or emotitional and see if it is related to eye twitching more (even being female does it happen more when you're on your period), break when reading or watching tv- make sure you don't stare to strain the eyes. I am also curious if you have pain in your neck as muscles around the eye are attached to the neck, I have read relax your neck... You can see this URL for other info on eye twitch http://www.eyecarebasics.com/eye-care-articles/eye-twitch.htm I also have an article on my site about eye exercises.. A good video also is called Yoga for your eyes.. to relax eyes and improve vision (if that is needed, extra side benefit) http://alaivani.com/Blog/tabid/56/EntryID/48/Default.aspx Hope that is helpful. Guest guest Report post Posted May 23, 2007 From what I understand, eye twitching usually is related to overwork. I used to get them when I was staring at the computer screen without a break. There are several easy exercises you can do to alleviate strain in your eyes. One is to take off your glasses frequently if you wear glasses. Put your palms over your closed eyes, and visualize a scene with objects moving that will help relax you. One of my favorites scenes to use is of snowflakes falling slowly and lightly, creating a winter wonderland. Allow your eyes to relax for as long as possible, or it might be more beneficial to do it more often for shorter periods. Another easy relaxation exercise is to shut your eyes tightly using only the muscles in the eyelids as you exhale. As you inhale, open your eyes wide, then blink easily. This will rehydrate your eyes. Blinking is really essential for healthy eyes, and the more you can practice, the more it will once again become natural and the less you will be prone to staring without blinking. Some excellent books are The Art of Seeing by Aldous Huxley, Improve your Vision without Glasses or Contact Lenses by Dr. Steven M. Beresford et al, and Eyerobics by Marilyn Roy. All these books stress how important your eyes are, and how they are not really destined to become diseased and lose their flexibility. You can do many things to improve your eyesight and to keep your eyes healthy. Good luck, hope these help Renae www.peacerus.com
