Guest guest
THIS is nutty, from Karl Loren's Health Site: " Most people in the US, if you looked into their toilets, would have " sinkers rather than floaters! " In other words, if your food and digestion are proper, the stool will float in the toilet water, will be light in color, will be soft, but well-formed (not watery) and will NOT have a foul smell. How many people do you suppose have " proper stool? " " My stools NEVER float. My stools VARY in color. And I ALWAYS have " foul smelling " stools. My stools vary in color, depending on what I have been eating. If I have been eating a lot of dark green leafies, my stool will be DARK green-brown. I eat a 75 to 80% vegetarian diet---lots of high bulk, low-carb, nutrient-rich stuff. I eat some wild fish, organic chicken and a little organic beef. Stools SMELL FOUL. THAT is why I defecate into the toilet, and NOT into a sachet. I could drink perfume and eat hand soap and my stools would STILL smell " foul. " One other thing I have read here and there is that " if a person is eating and drinking correctly, they will have no need to use toilet paper. " Sorry. That one doesn't work for me either. Very occasionally all goes perfectly, but 99.9% of the time I do need toilet paper or a bidet---something, anyway! I have also read, in " Balch & Balch, " that certain dis-eases cause " foul-smelling " stools. A very strange symptom indeed.... I think, if one made " consistently light-colored, floating " non-foul smelling stools " one's main health indicator, one could spend 1000 years trying and still not get it right. Blessed wishes, Elliot
Guest guest
I agree with you about this, Elliot. My experience is like yours. Mercola has also said that stools should float. It would be nice to know why " experts " say these things. I agree that bowel movements should be almost effortless. But if I'm eating garlic, ginger, onions, asparagus... things are pretty foul smelling. And the colour changes all the time depending on what I eat. Especially beet juice! Guest guest
David, I am on the FlaxOil2 board, where I also posted that message, and I am getting replies from several individuals that their stools are not foul-smelling. I do not believe it. From a search I did under " scatoles indoles feces " : " * Hydrogen sulfide * Ammonia * Histamines * Indoles * Phenols * Scatoles These substances are....produced naturally in the digestive tract when we digest food, resulting in the unpleasant odor evidenced in feces. " Have you seen the long piece Dr. Mercola did titled, " The Naive Vegetarian " ? http://www.second-opinions.co.uk/vegetarian.html Best wishes, Elliot , David Elfstrom <listbox@e...> wrote: > I agree with you about this, Elliot. For those who want a lot more detail, there's http://www.beyondveg.com/ - Beyond Vegetarianism - transcending outdated dogmas. While it was last updated in 2001, the vast amount of data still holds. All nutrients are available to us and usually in a better form in plants. I don't agree with any of his dietary stuff. Persian
Guest guest
Mercola is quite right. I read a book a few years ago called " The Saccharine Disease " by Surgeon Captain (RN) Thomas Cleave. He discusses bowel movements at length. A great book written around the early 1970s. I changed my diet and built up the fiber I eat. ( I also have a small stool to put my feet on in the toilet.) Consequently my stools are exactly as Mercola describes. Don't dismiss some of these 'experts' so quickly.
