I have a friend that is trying to help a friend (in a different country,

problems with the language barrier) he has some type of nerve disorder, (or at

least she thinks that what it is) she said he gets a feeling like a jolt of

electricity going through his body and falls down from the pain and muscle

weakness and cries like a child from the pain, he never knows when it is going

to hit.

she was not sure what it is called and I have not heard about this type of

condition.

I need to do some research for her, but without a name I do not know were to

start.

Would any one have a clue to what this may be called, she said some told her it

was quite common in the US and Germany in the 30s and 50s

Any thoughts on this are greatly appreciated, please email me at: 121

Best regards,

Elaine

Dear Elaine,

Such symptoms have been seen in patients having neuro-syphilis. Please ask

him to test for syphilis and inform me.

Regards.

In both cases it is the stimulus to the nerve that causes the electric feeling.

My suspicion is it is a magnesium deficiency causing the problems. I

would suggest increasing the deep green leafy vegetables and possibly

have the magnesium level checked. I believe seizures and many

neurological syndromes are often linked to magnesium deficiencies.
