Guest guest
Do you see a correlation between lower academic ability and new-agism, as Bob seemed to suggest? Rory - It is absolutely untrue that new ageism presents a lack of rigor. There are groups of highly competent medical doctors who are capable of higher wu-wu factor than just about any OM professional I have met. This pejorative use of the terms represents a tyranny of belief, and more people have been killed on this planet for such reasons. That said - we need more rigor in admissions, program and entry level requirements. The school you cited as accepting below 2.0 for entry has a problem. ACAOM's 'doctorate as a first professional degree' task force is involved in establishing just such a new set of standards and I invite anyone to send comments and recommendations to ACAOM directly or to AAOM as a representative organization. I think when people are objecting to something they label new age, or religious, they should gives some clear examples of exactly what it is they object to and why. I find the generalities that pervade this and other threads quite disturbing, and remarkably wooly -- hence my question. Rory --
