My question - I need to gain about 18 lbs to be considered

a " normal " body weight. My physician does not want me to exercise

(which I am used to walking

1/2 - 1 hour daily) and just eat are his directions. My concern is

that the increased caloric intake plus no exercise will make me gain

fat, when it's muscle that I need to gain. Any suggestions or

recommendations? Should Continue my walking, and just increase the

calories? I eat a pretty much raw food diet, all organic foods, and

I eat until I feel satiated.

Hi there,

I have a few suggestions that may be useful for you. After reading

your message it occurred to me that perhaps you're not gaining

weight because your body isn't effectively metabolizing the

nutrients from your food. Otherwise it seems you have a very

healthy diet although you didn't mention the type of diet your

doctor advised. The only changes I would make would be to add a few

organic eggs and some oily fish like Alaskan salmon/sardines (in

water)to your regimen. also, a few portions of organic yogurt in

your diet each day either in a smoothie or a fruit salad may help to

improve your digestion and in that way improve weight gain. Some

grated ginger root and herbal licorice also may be helpful for this.

. There are good organic fats that help with weight gain which go by

the name of monounsaturated fats. They provide good fats that our

bodies need to counteract the bad fats and in that way they also aid

in the healing process.

These fats include extra virgin olive oil, avocadoes, macadamia

nuts, almonds, and brazil nuts.

The dry roasted or processed varieties with many harmful refined

oils (cottonseed, etc.) are the very worst. I certainly wouldn't

advise eating them.

If you prefer roasted my advice would be to just roast your own

with sea salt and sesame oil. This adds flavor as well. I am well

aware that nuts will help you put on weight. Immediately after my

heart attack I certainly found a few extra pounds I had lost while

eating them.

They make a great between meal snack right along with dates,

raisins, and prunes. Dates especially are high in calories and they

are my favorites wouldn't you know.<LOL

Just a word of caution on the avocadoes though. they are best eaten

raw in a salad or if you wish, make your own guacamole. The many

available commercial brands contain many harmful oils.

Include a few organic chips from your natural foods grocery or

health food store. Black bean and salsa chips from Garden of Eatin'

are luscious! Organic popcorn sprinkled with sea salt is great for

adding a calorie or two to your diet.

Cashew or peanut butter is great as long as it's non-hydrogenated

and goes well with Ezekiel breads

Blackstrap molasses provides a great overall tonic and revitalizer.

Tree of Life makes a fabulous organic brand. Organic tastes best and

provides more healing minerals. It tastes great in a cup of tea. and

either the Teecino coffee substitute or Roma coffee substitute with

a scoop of Meyenberg powdered goat milk to improve digestion..Yum...

Organic potatoes are wonderful for weight gain if you add a little

organic sour cream, butter or cheese, although I wouldn't advise

this for those with even a hint of heart or cardiovascular disease.

As a former cardiovascular patient I use it very sparingly.

Even though at the moment you cannot endure chelation, there are

supplements that are effective to clean out your system. Milk

thistle, dandelion, alfalfa, selenium and zinc help with daily

detox! I make sure I get at least two of three of these supplements

on a daily basis.

If it is only possible for you to purchase even two or three of

them, I believe selenium, zinc and milk thistle would be my first

choice for this!

This is all that comes to mind at the moment. I had to think about

this for a few moments befpre responding.I have never

ever been approached with this type of question in the past. Usually

it's the direct opposite.

Kind Regards,

JoAnn

P.S If I were you I wouldn't stop exercising though.

Exercise and especially rebounding helps remove toxic wastes from

the lymph glands.
