Honey While in Labor

By Kim

Chet, I must have missed your first mention of honey, but

I just wanted to add that my midwife gave me honey while

in labor with my second child. I had been in labor for

many hours and up all night walking, etc. trying to speed

labor naturally due to my water having been broken for so

long, etc.

I was getting very weak and tired and she brought me some

honey for the energy. It also helps give you strength

after birth. I did end up hemhorraging and as much blood

as I lost should have went into shock, but did keep

conscious and was able to eventually get up on my own and

get to the restroom.

This was a big suprise to everone and I really think the

honey did more than anyone thought for my strength and

stamina during this intense time.

We produce our own honey and it is very superior to any

you can get from a store, which is secretly laden with

chemicals that they don't tell you about.

Many doulas (like me!) and midwives carry

honey sticks for women who are laboring. J I prefer raw honey, and have also known it to be healing for

sore/torn perineums.
