Hi Greg

I am sure this cannot be a concidence, but I found your website about a

month ago and started using APGL at that time based largely upon info

found on your site. we talked about growth hormone releasers for a few

days back then here at CHA. How did you stumble upon us?

Hi

I have started a new career (at 54!) and have started studying toward a Bachelor

of Health Science Degree in

Complementary Medicine of which Traditional & Herbs will form a

part of.

I left the AAR group as I don't believe that injecting GH (which I have never

done) is the path to life extension. My

path is to work from with-in and encourage / help the body to work younger

through dietary change, moderate exercise,

some herbs & supplements & meditation.

I found you via the search engine and believed your group sounded

like the sort of folks which I would like

to be involved with.

> Can anyone recommend any good books, tapes, or charts?

Hi Mike,

I do the Asian bodywork called Shiatsu so my suggestions are coming from

what I've found basic to that craft.

There's a new link on the AOBTA web site for Asian bodyworkers who plan to

take the NCCAOM's Asian Bodywork Therapy Exam.

It lists study groups and review classes for the exam plus an article by

Barbra Esher outlining a possible twelve week program of study for the exam.

http://www.aobta.org/abt_study_groups.htm

Take note that it mentions a book " Foundations of " , by

Giovanni Maciocia, Churchill Livingston Press. (a book I always keep at my

side)

and various articles from " Massage Today "

In addition to Maciocia's, introductions to the theories of Asian bodywork

can be found in

" Between Heaven and Earth " by Beinfield and Corngold

" The Web That Has No Weaver " by Kapchuk

" Traditional Acupuncture: The Law of the Five Elements " by Connelly.

Here's hoping you are enjoying your journey as much as we clearly are ours,

Penel

I would also like to know if anyone knows of any programs that list the

acupuncture points, their Chinese and Japanese names, and usages?

I have started my own spreadsheet of such information using the Outline of

Chinese Acupuncture and one of Ohashi's books, but it would be a lot easier

if such a program already existed, and that allowed addition of our own

accumulated information.

Thanks,

Hi

Try to find books from the " Publishing House of Shanghai College of

Tradicional " . You'll find books of several subjects

concerning TCM.

Try to find a good school of it too. Medicine needs practice and good

teachers !

St. John's wort is not for depression, but rather an anti-inflamatory, and is used as an Astringent, an expectorant, and as a diuretic. It's main use for centuries has been in the area of coughs, colds, and primarily in lung diseases. It is also one helluva diuretic and is highly esteemed in handling urinary problems, and also for helping with sores, wounds, ulcers, and swellings, etc.

There are far better herbs for this such as Lobelia, Passion Flower, Hops, Valerian, Black & Blue Cohosh, and Skullcap ,

be careful of st. john's wort. it interferes with birth control and it makes you sun sensitive.

I have valerian root tincture, it works well. I even give it to my kids if

their sleep schedules got too far out of whack. Scullcap is also a good one,

my sister has that one and she has bigger problems with insomnia than I do.

Chamomile is a less potent one, but is worth knowing about. I am a 24 year

old student. What are you going to school for?

Herbal Remedies - Hi

Hi,

My name is Annie. I am new to the forum. I'm a 21 year old student

interested in finding some herbal recipes to try for some of my

healing needs. The biggest one is insomnia, I was suggested to try

something with valerian. I am new to this sort of thing but really

would like to give it a try. Any one have any ideas?

Hello,

I am going for my RN and then for Special education. How about you? Now, I have never heard of skullcap...what is it? I've had insomnia for about nine years, so which ever one you think would work best, I would appreciate a recipe for. How old are your kids? Thanks for responding by the way

~Peace to you

Hi Annie,

I make this tea for my dh & myself. He drinks a cup about 30 minutes

before he wants to go to bed and it works good for him.

1 cup Nettles

1 cup oatstraw

1 cup chamomile

1 cup skullcap

1 cup passion flower

mix all together really good. I put mine in a blender and pulse it

just to break to all up (do not powder it) and mix the herbs well.

Then put in a quart size jar. use 1 tsp to 1 tbsp and brew it in a

cup of boilling water for about 15 minutes. drink.. it also tastes

very nice, We add a little stevia to sweeten.

Hope this helps you. It also works for pain in muscles.

Hi Annie,

I'm 25 and have also had trouble with insomnia - i've tried almost everything natural there is. The very best thing I've found is something called Cal Mag (it's calcium and magnesium powder) which you dissolve in hot water and drink before bed. This has also handled my horrible menstrural cramps, headaches, etc., because it just calms the whole body. Ask me if you need to know where to get it.

I have tried valarian root and other herbs but the Cal Mag is the one thing that always works, and I feel results in only seconds.

Also, taking a long walk is a great remedy for sleeplessness.

I hope this helps!

Hi Cathy,

I haven't heard any info specifically about adrenal gland growths, but

if I had a condition where the doctors even had an idea about cutting

something out of me, I'd go on the Total Body Cleanse and not come off

it until they changed their mind. I am absolutely convinced that things

go wrong in our bodies because of the condition we put our bodies into -

too acid, not enough nutrition, evil things like sugar, etc. We have to

reverse that condition for our bodies to heal themselves again.

If you haven't looked at the Total Body Cleanse yet, the info is in the

files of this group, or on www.academyofnaturalhealing.com where you can

order Doc's free lecture.

Best,

Kelli

| Herbal Remedies - Hi

|

| I am new to the group and am excited about learning more about

| natural remedies.

| One of the things I would like to find out about is there any herbal

| remedies for adrenal gland growths. About a year ago I had a CT scan

| that showed I had a growth on my adrenal gland, the specialist told

| me the only thing I could do is wait and see if it gets larger and

| have it removed.
