Guest guest
Oh you guys.... errr... Oh You gals!! ;-) Sage is in the nose of the smeller.... I actually sort of love the smell of fresh smudge.... we get Native American harvested smudge sticks in Oregon and a small bit of it does some wonderful stuff in the cleansing world. Guest guest
Hi John, >there are many people who are new to New Age or alternative spirituality who will believe >just about anything put in front of them. Thank you for saying this! I can't believe some of the things that are being sold these days, and huge amounts of money being charged for them! Every day, I learn about a 'new' healing technique that is only being shared by the Masters with that one person and costs hundreds of dollars. When I read the description, it is something I have been doing for 15 years. I just can't believe there are so many unscrupulous people in the New Age Community. Very sad. Guest guest
you hippy you... did you know that frankincense has some of the same properties as cannabis? Guest guest
Claudia, This is one of my pet peeves.... I have a one man army going on... when I see stuff on ebay being sold as the wrong thing... I send a note to the seller. Often times they are lied to be the person they bought it from. Today I sent a note to someone selling a Cherry Quartz sphere from Madagascar... there is no such thing.. and if there was it would be major $$$$. It was a man made ( reconstituted quartz) from China with coloring added. And the kicker? It wasn't even FDA approved coloring. :-) In gratitude, John At 07:13 PM 2/17/2008, you wrote: >Hi John, > > >there are many people who are new to New Age or alternative > spirituality who will believe > >just about anything put in front of them. > >Thank you for saying this! Guest guest
Hi all! I'm new here. I had to comment. I have seen those " crystals " on ebay from China. They look so fake that it amazes me that people fall for it. I think they sell a royal blue sphere and a turquoise sphere too. Oh and I like the " djinn rings " too. Where they bottle a djinn in stone. If that were true, they probably wouldn't sell it for $100 on ebay. And from what I understand about djinns is they are not exactly what you would want guarding your crystals! , John Van Rees <john wrote: > > Claudia, > > This is one of my pet peeves.... > > I have a one man army going on... when I see stuff on ebay being > sold as the wrong thing... Guest guest
Don't you defeat the purpose if the doors and windows are open? Maybe the sage you are able to get has a somewhat different smell to it. My main beef is that the smell is the same as marijuana, which is an okay smell - it's more the implications of the smell in my home! So I'm not one of the Oh You Gals!! Yet in saying that, I do try to burn the sage at least once a month in my home (my kids don't like the smell & it does take a while - the spray is much easier) But I do use the spray in between. I found that spraying the car has really helped a lot in the house as well as the car. You can't carry in the home negativity that is cleared out in the car. Remember Indian cultures is one that you leave the shoes outside because it is believed that you will bring in the negative of the day into the home if you were your shoes inside. As it is believed that the bottom of the soul picks up the negative of the day. (I think a few other cultures observe this as well.) But as beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so is the smell to the inhaler! Happy smelling, Rebecca John Van Rees <john wrote: Oh you guys.... errr... Guest guest
Thanks -- I hadn't thought of those scents! I will try and find them. Yes I agree with the " Pow Wow " as I have American Indian blood in me low percentage, but I am asked by my facial features alot and some of my family has more habit traits of the heritage. Guest guest
i have been told that cherry quartz is hematite infused in regular quartz that both stones are melted together and molded very man made not that, that's bad.but when ppl are trying to sell it as natural its kind of a hoax..but there are lots of them out there in fact we have several in the shop i work in they are very lovely but we tell people that they are man made... and definitely not natural. ...i think i have a book that even has the properties about it i will try to find it ... candace John Van Rees <john wrote: Claudia, This is one of my pet peeves.... One leaves the windows or doors open to allow the negative energies to leave the space....it needs an outlet. Guest guest
There are times that I burn sage almost nightly, depending on whats going on in the house/family. My children are convinced that it " works " so therefore are welcome to the aroma. Sometimes my kids even ask me to smudge them. Also, I take my stones and stone jewlery and bath them in dried sage from my garden. I am asured of their cleanliness that way. Hope this encourages others to continue to burn and use sage ain its wonderous healing way. si`la , John Van Rees <john wrote: > > At 09:10 PM 2/17/2008, you wrote: > > >Don't you defeat the purpose if the doors and windows are open? > >Maybe the sage you are able to get has a somewhat different smell to > >it. Guest guest
Aloha . . . the intent of using sage int the Native American tradition is that the smoke rises taking prayers with it. I'm sure the effect of removing negative energies is the same. Many who use sage prefer the white sage as it has a sweeter, more gentle fragrance. I once burned a smudge stick made with copal and lavender. The house filled up with a smell identical to burning pot. I opened all the windows and doors to get the smell out as I did not want that particular smell hanging around. As soon as I did I realized that my neighbor was the deputy sheriff and that the wind was blowing that way, so I sent a few prayers along with it that he wouldn't notice. When using sage wands for smudging be sure to carry along a dish or abalone shell that can catch any of the ashes that may fall. I also dampen the end usually with running tap water from a nearby sink to make sure there is not possibility of sage rekindling and becoming a fire hazard. Guest guest
Don't know the smell these days either been over 35 years since I smelled it. The first couple of times that I used it in my home - the smell reminded me of something I just couldn't remember what it was and then it hit me one day out of the blue (as things usually do). In the past several years it has been brought up by others to me while engaging in the conversation of saging and the how to of smudging. There are many different techniques that are used to smudge. But.... Don't you defeat the purpose if the door and windows are open? Would really like your imput on this question. I am still in a growing stage with obtaining information and am open to all and as anyone else I will use what resinates with me. Yet, I always like different inputs on subjects and try to look at all sides of things and issues. I truly believe that people can agree to disagree and still be kind and caring towards others. Guest guest
Thank you - now that makes sense to me! In all my conversations about smudgings an there have been many - no one has ever said that to me - I will inquire back to those when I speak with them again. I do agree it is not about the smell. Yet, I am allergic to grass extremely! What do I do since I can't open the windows - will intent do? Janie I just looked down below your message and saw the quote by Orison S. Marden - did you send this? Blessings, Rebecca Janie <reikiskhm wrote: Rebecca said: Don't you defeat the purpose if the doors and windows are open? One leaves the windows or doors open to allow the negative energies to leave the space....it needs an outlet. Guest guest
I wish my kids liked the smell - but at least the are open to the insense part most of the time and they like lavander and that can be mixed with water and sprayed. The fresh sage sounds wonderful - now that may smell different - I will have to try that. Thank you! Blessings, Rebecca silalasangre <silalasangre wrote: There are times that I burn sage almost nightly, depending on whats going on in the house/family. Guest guest
Hi Rebecca, If it is possible to open a window just a bit for a short time, it would be good. But if you are extremely allergic, it would not be worth it, and Spirit would probably think you're nuts for trying :-) - so perhaps you can intend that there is a large caldron or bucket at one end of the house (wherever you finish the smudging) - it can be filled with white light or fire or violet flame, whatever works for you. Set the intention that anything released during the smudging is deposited in the caldron/bucket and that caldron/bucket in turn is carried off to be transmuted by........whomever you choose. And so it is. Yes, the Marden quote is part of my sig line - I came across the quote quite a while ago and fell in love with it. I haven't yet had a chance to look up anything on Marden though. Guest guest
I had a good laugh over the neighbor! That sounds like me! Blessings, Rebecca Skye Coe <mauiskye1 wrote: Aloha . . . the intent of using sage int the Native American tradition is that the smoke rises taking prayers with it. Guest guest
Good idea, I bet I could also do one of two things that we use in Pranic Healing. The first being a visual fire of the color green or orange, the second being a container with water and normal salt. Thanks for the suggestion about putting it where I end smudging. About the quote. I hadn't noticed it before - all things are given when we need them - so let me tell you why I asked. Short story form - couldn't work for over 14 years due to needs of disabled child from auto accident. Last 3 years lived off of an estate and had four more years to go which would of been aple time to get all things in order income wise, but that changed last March and I only have 3 more payments. Spiritually I have always had faith, believed, been protected an provided for but humanly thoughts and concerns still cross the mind. I have been in the process for the last year (I started before the income change) in re educating myself. But at the present time I can't make what I need to make to provide for my family. After what I went through after I did work after the accident and the 9-5 office scene would still be hard for me, I dediced to work independly. A few weeks ago someone offered my an income opportunity to organize and set up classes that they teach - if 10 people attend the class I can make excellent money for the time I am away from home. This is the first time I have ever worked totally for myself and set up a business much less done this type of organization. SOOOOOOOOOOOOO seeing that Quote - was what I needed to hear and to let me know that I could do it - sound crazy maybe - but it was what I supose to know and so I thank you that it came from you. Many Many Blessings to you, Rebecca A few weeks ago a friend of Janie <reikiskhm wrote: Hi Rebecca, If it is possible to open a window just a bit for a short time, it would be good. Guest guest
Hmmm, seems like I should respond to this.. about leaving the windows or doors open. There is most generally a venting system in any room, perhaps if it is only a heating duct, the opening under a door, a window left ajar, or if I may suggest even where one feels a draft in the room... if there is a way for negative " spirits " to come in, seems logical that there is a way out. Yes, a open window or door may contribute to a swifter escape of negativity however the secret is to be positively sure that the negative " spirit " will leave... and most times it will disperse.... somewhere, hopefully NEVER to return. si`la , jane doe <divinetrinitywellness wrote: > > Agreed it's not. Guest guest
Hi Rebecca, The two things you use in Pranic Healing are a perfect solution for smudging. How interesting about the Quote - especially since I do not usually have the time I would like to respond to posts on my lists. For " some reason " I was drawn to respond to yours. No accidents, huh :-) You will do very well in your endeavor because Spirit is definitely working with you on this! The first being a visual fire of the color green or orange, the second being a container with water and normal salt. Thanks for the suggestion about putting it where I end smudging. ****gently snipped**** SOOOOOOOOOOOOO seeing that Quote - was what I needed to hear and to let me know that I could do it - sound crazy maybe - but it was what I supose to know and so I thank you that it came from you. Guest guest
Good there is a least one door with flow of air - for now anyway! Thank you so much for all the helpful ways if windows can't be opened. Blessings. Rebecca silalasangre <silalasangre wrote: Hmmm, seems like I should respond to this.. about leaving the windows or doors open.
