Dear Heritage Foods Supporter,

We welcome the warm season with an offer of herb plants and spring seeds from Renaissance Acres Organic Herb Farm in Whitmore Lake, Michigan. Replace musty dried herbs in your pantry with our selection of fragrant and flavorful fresh herbs. All herbs are true to name and are authentically grown. Cooked or thrown in raw, herbs are the backbone of most recipes. Use them when preparing a dish with heritage meats and grains or a recipe from the cookbook In the Herb Garden, a collection of recipes from Renaissance Acres, which we include in the package.

The fresh herb plants have been raised under strict organic standards. No pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, or synthetic fertilizers are ever used. The soil is hand made and the plants are well-rooted. These may be kept indoors in a sunny location or on the porch or patio though they are hardy enough for the outdoors. If properly cared for, these plants will provide a lifetime of fresh herbs!

The herb seeds are untreated and have been hand-harvested from wild plants or from the gardens on the farm. Each packet provides 4 to 5 fresh plants, feel free to stagger the plantings two weeks apart.

All items come with general cultural information as well as care and planting instructions.

Fresh potted plants include:

 

Bay laurel

Lemon grass Rex rosemary Arp rosemary (there is a noticeable difference between the two) French tarragon plant (more intense than the Russian tarragon)

Spring seeds include:

 

1 packet of dill 1 packet of arugula seeds

1 packet of cilantro seeds

Nope, I have no experience with them, but only due to lack of funds.

I've known others that try to support Heritage Foods as it's an arm

of the " slow food " movement, and like them, I want it to succeed.

(On principle if nothing else...)

 

I hope someday to get feedback from someone who can give a first hand

account of quality, taste, etc.
