Guest guest
Hi my name is Nadine and I haven't slept in about four weeks. I have taken sleeping pills and antoxylytic pills to no avail. I hate having to take these pills and they are not really helping me. I have turned to alternative medicine because I think it would help me more. I have started to drink chamomile tea at nights and have returned to aerobics class. Is there anything else I can add to these things as I am desperate for some natural sleep. Thanx.\

Guest guest
Hi Nadine, Many times with sleepnessness you're dealing with exhausted adrenals. Astragalus and Licorice root are two herbs that support the adrenals. Something else you can try right before bed is soaking in a bath with about 10 drops of lavender oil. This can really help to relax you to help you sleep. Blessings, Michelle Newport, CHC, CH Certified Herbalist Nature For Life P.O. Guest guest
10/31/2006, Tuesday Try to get yourself to stick to a schedule so that you are tired when it is time to sleep. Also, exercise during the day so that you use up your energy by the time it is time to go to sleep. Stay away from drinks that are stimulants like caffeine oriented drinks before bedtime. nadine_ev <nadine_ev wrote: Hi my name is Nadine and I haven't slept in about four weeks. Guest guest
Hi Nadine, I attended a talk recently on Stress-Less Sleep through the use of certain breathing method which I hope might be able to help you. I have actually tried the method when I was in the seminar and found that I can let my mind reach a calm stage. Pardon me that I did my best to remember as much about the talk as possible and put everything down in a blog. Read the full article at: http://sleepingwelltonight.blogspot.com/2006/09/stress-less-sleep-mind-body-medi\ cine.html Sincerely hope that it would be able to help you. Guest guest
Hi Nadine, Insomnia can be very frustrating and it feels awful to be walking around next day like a zombie. I have found a few things help: 1) Taking calcium/magnesium before bed. 2) If you sleep on your right side that opens the left nostril which is tied to the parasympathetic nervous system (related to calmness). 3) Alternate nostril breathing- shut off right nostril and inhale through left slowly for a few minutes . Then do other side. It's explained more in free ebook. 4)Sometimes I will listen to an audio tape with headphones to fall asleep and that way it will replace my own mental chatter. Guest guest
I would recommend keeping a journal by your bed. Write down all of your anxieties and tell yourself that you are putting them there for safe-keeping and can " pick them up " if you want to after you take a short nap. Also, valerian root may help you, but check with your prescriber to be sure it doesn't affect the anxiolytics you are taking. You might want to try acupuncture. Guest guest
Hello Nadine, Incase you want permanent cure from Insomnia you got to kick that sleeping pills habit in the cold Turkey manner... Meaning one fine day ( or night) just stop taking any sleeping pills. Aplly some oil and massage well and then take a nice warm water bath dabbed with some aromatic/perfumed oil before you sleep. Eat something light so you dont feel heavy. Do your prayers ( its important) and sleep early and avoid any loud music and switch off all lights and please ask your folks not to disturb you for a few days... While sleeping think of some positive events of the day or the past ( no nagative thoughts please as Julie just wrote to you)... Just try and get back to me after a week please...Sanjay ( sanjay_sabikhi) Julie <abetterjulie wrote: I would recommend keeping a journal by your bed. Guest guest
Try listening to classical music. I had an awful time sleeping till my husband started playing classical music at bedtime. I fall asleep more easily, wake up less, and get much better sleep than I did before. As someone else said, get off those sleeping pills. They're obviously not helping, so all you're getting is the bad stuff in them. Have you thought about a new mattress? That can have a big effect on your sleep. Stay away from the TV/computer before bed and don't eat for a few hours before bed. Lavender massage oil is wonderful. Massage some on your temples about half an hour before bed and it will relax you. Another good thing is melatonin. It helps me anyway. Hope that helps. Guest guest
Hi Nadine ! You follow the natureopathy what Mr Sanjay has explained. To add to that you take a homoeopathic medicine - Ignatia - 200 two to three drops daily at 7 p.m. But ensure that you are not taking any sour items. It should be avoided at all costs. You will get your long awaited good sleep. Intimate me your progress on subratadashomoeo. Subrata Das _______________ Connect with your friends who use Messenger with Voice. Guest guest
Nadine: the answers you have received from the group are excellent - HOWEVER - I must add this as a WARNING: I notice when scanning your letter that you are on anxiolytics (anxiety medications). DO NOT stop taking them cold turkey. You MUST wean yourself off them! The results of stopping these medications cold turkey can be devasting - including the possibility of seizures. I am not saying to continue using them - I personally believe alternative methods are far superior -- perhaps start with meditation as you slowly WEAN yourself off the prescription medication.
