Guest guest
Can massage therapy be an alternative to surgery for a torn rotar cuff (spelling??)?Thanks,LynneOn Apr 25, 2006, at 4:13 PM, kwarren wrote:Mirna, I am thankful to a massage therapist for the work she did for me. I had a hiatal hernia that went undiagnosed by “regular doctors”. They thought it was my heart or lungs. I couldn’t breathe since my stomach was sitting above my diaphragm. For the first time in several months, I could take a deep breath. I lost almost 45 pounds before my stomach was pulled down and I could then start eating and breathing again. So to the massage therapists out there, Thank you and God bless. Guest guest
Absolutely! Depending on the tear, that is. If the tear is a 3rd degree strain, or completely detached, that will require surgery, but even after that Massage Therapy will help with the scarring factor. Scarring is actually one of the most debilitating problems when someone is cut open. The scar is formed by new connective tissue and the tissue grows to everything, thus causing restricted range of motion. When you have someone massage the area, you break down the scar so and you will actually have less of a scar in the long run. You will regain range of motion and be able to build the muscles back up. Depending on the degree of your tear, Passive and Active Range of Motion exercises as well as some light stretching exercises will get the blood flowing to the area and will help promote healing. I hope this helps! KeithLynneCallahan <lcallahan41 wrote: Can massage therapy be an alternative to surgery for a torn rotar cuff (spelling??)?
