Wonder if anyone has any advice here? At least to make the cat more comfortable? thanks in advance. Cathy *************** Cathy, You've referenced holistic treatments in the past...I'm wondering, what have you got re: cancer in cats...it's mammary cancer and she's had one surgery (the 14th) to remove the tumors on her right side (stiches/staples come out early next week)... The biopsy revealed " no surprises " ...options include further surgery to remove some of the spread through the left side...and/or chemo...however, at best, if we're all very lucky, the average life expectancy would be 13 months (of course, it's an average and could be MORE or LESS)... After seeing what the initial surgery did to her...and considering the prospect of yet more invasive procedures and/or toxic chemicals in her system...I don't think I'm going to put her through much more... She still has her limp (which may or may not be caused by a tumor on her left side) and has lost weight (visibly) since only the surgery... Though I know I'll fall apart when the time draws nearer, right now while I'm still able to think clearly about it, I don't believe I'd be doing right by her to torture her just so I could say/think " I've done everything " ... Hwvr, I'm wondering, what is available holistically to treat or manage this condition?...Of course, I'm waiting for you to tell me about a mystical magical potion or pill that will make everything all better after one dose, but more realistically, I guess I'm hoping for something that will extend her time with me, while giving her a good, painfree, and comfortable quality life... If anyone else, reading in copy, has any ideas or suggestions for how I might make Riki's remaining time as comfortable and joyful as possible, please let me know...and while I know the offers would be well intentioned, I don't think other 'specialists' would help...the diagnosis is that it's spread into her lymphatic system...and the prognosis is not good... Aside from the recent weight loss and limp, she's only acting a little more subdued than normally...she's always been 'top cat' and I'm hoping that the more mellow, passive behavior is due to any residual post- surgical discomfort...in the meanwhile, I've been making sure that all still abide by Riki's 'top cat' status (dogs, at 5x or more her weight are also complying -- they have no choice - I'm the Mom)... I usually to make my own. There are some good sites on the web about essiac. And most health food or specialty stores will carry it (at least around here) www.essiac-info.org or www.essiacsource.com Some places on the web, if you can't find it around, may ship overnite.
