Guest guest
I have been using this word for over thirty years and can't say enough about how it has uplifted me spiritually. Here is a some of the info and links I have gathered about it. The HU has been in use for thousands of years by many different cultures and religious groups as a means to have a greater conscious contact with the Light and Sound of God. Texts or practices of the ancient Egyptians, Gnostics, Greek mystery schools, Druids, Sufi, Hermetic, early Christian, Coptic, Africans and Eckankar have, or still use the HU. According to the Oxford English Dictionary http://www.oed.com/The word "God" can be plausibly derived from the Sanskrit word "HU" "HU is the main mantra used in Eckankar. It has also been used inother spiritual traditions in the past. What makes this one-syllableword so powerful?" "It's powerful because it's the ancient name for God. It's a name thatsome of the Eastern religions are aware of, but in the West it's prettymuch an unknown name. And it is much more effective as a love song to God than just the simple Anglo-Saxon word God." "HU is ancient. When they come back to ECK, it's the name people recognize from other lifetimes. When they come back to ECK, they'regoing to remember. They're going to find help in their lives when usingit, when singing it, because it makes a connection all the way back through the earliest times when people came to this planet." From "The Slow Burning Love of God", by Harold Klemp, pg 67 "HU is both a name for God and a sound of the Audible Life Stream, which we know as the ECK, or Holy Spirit. HU, along with Sugmad, is a charged name for God that can spiritually uplift the people of any religion." "People glimpse a quality of the Supreme Deity and fit a name to their concept of the All-in-the-All in their native tongue. Despitethe many names for God, none is God. It exists alone and supreme, beyond the grasp of the human mind. God exists in and of Itself." "In ECK, we do know this: HU is foremost among the ancient names for God. It is the true, universal name drawn from the Sound Current Itself, for HU is woven into the language of life. It is the Sound of all sounds. It is the wind in the leaves, falling rain thunder of jets, singing of birds, the awful rumble of a tornado. Again, Its sound is heard in laughter, weeping, the din of city traffic, ocean waves, and the quiet rippling of a mountain stream. And yet, the word HU is not God. It isa word people anywhere can use to address the Originator of Life." "The word HU descends from the highest spiritual realms. It springs from the tenth plane, the Nameless World." "The Shariyat-Ki-Sugmad, Way of the Eternal, says of the sacred soundHU: 'In this mantric sound all the positive and forward-pressing forcesof the human, which are trying to blow up its limitations and burst the fetters of ignorance, are united and concentrated on the ECK, like an arrow point.'" "HU, adds The Shariyat, is the way out of 'personal misery of every kind; out of the meaninglessness of life; out of boredom, discouragement, failure, obsessive anxiety, or depression; and out of fear.'" From THE LIVING WORD, Book 2, by Harold Klemp, pg. 1 "This word has a spiritual force that speaks volumes by itself. It has little need for a human agent, except for the Light Giver. He is the Mahanta, who links Soul with the Sound Current. He helps each find spiritual freedom by passing along this forgotten, holy name of God." "The word is HU. It depends upon no human authority for validation. No priest, minister, or spiritual figure can say HU is this or that.It is what it is. From a practical standpoint, it is love's golden thread, drawing Soul closer to God, like an infant to its parent." "HU is a love song to God. It uplifts and purifies us of the evilsthat make life too much to bear. It heals our wounds, soothes our brow: sweet, but mighty, name of God." "In all heaven and earth no name is mightier than HU. It can liftthe grieving heart to a temple of solace. A companion in trouble,it is likewise a friend in times of prosperity. And is it any wonder, for HU is Soul's most precious gift from God." "Anytime you sing HU as a love offering to Sugmad, the Lord of allcreation, your heart fills with the Light and Sound of God. They are the twin aspects of ECK, the Holy Spirit. HU, the name of God,brings us into a holy alliance with the Light and Sound, the Word of God. Should the worlds tremble and all else fail, HU carries us into the ocean of God's love and mercy." "So sing HU softly, gently. Once among the most secret names of God,the Order of Vairagi Adepts has now brought it into the world for theupliftment of all. It is for those who desire true love, true freedom, wisdom, and truth." From THE LIVING WORD, Book 2, by Harold Klemp, pg. 3 "The Living ECK Master at that time was a man named Rama, who camefrom the dark forests of Germany and traveled to Tibet. On his waythere, he left the message of ECK--the teaching of the Sound and Lightof God and how to reach the Kingdom of Heaven in this lifetime--with the primitive people of northern Europe." "Even today, there is a faint remembrance of HU, the secret name of Godthat he left with the people. This word can be chanted or sung quietlyto yourself when you are in trouble or when you need consolation in time of grief. It gives strength, it gives health, it opens you as achannel for the greater healing of Divine Spirit." "When Rama spoke of HU, he was referring to the divine Light and Sound. The Sound of God, the Audible Life Stream, is the purifying element which uplifts Soul, so that one day It may return home to God,Its creator." "The word HU was later used among the Druids, but they eventually lostthe information about its true meaning. All that remained of Rama's teachings was a dim memory of the Light, and the brightest light theywere aware of was the sun. This is why historians today claim the Druids worshiped the Sun God HU." from "How to Find God" by Harold Klemp When one is united to the core of another, to speak of thatis to breathe the name HU, empty of self and filledwith love. As the saying goes, The pot drips what is in it.The saffron spice of connecting, laughter. The onion-smell of separation, crying.Others have many things and people they love. This is not the way of Friend and friend.- Rumi"Open Secret - Versions of Rumi"Translated by John Moyne and Coleman Barks "HU is the ancient name for God, a love song to God.When Soul has heard this sound, Soul yearns to go home."- Sri Harold Klemp Recognize that your imagination and your thinkingand your sense-perception are reed canesthat children cut and pretend are horsies. The Knowing of mystic Lovers is different. The empirical, sensory, sciencesare like a donkey loaded with books,or like the makeup woman's makeup. It washes off. But if you lift the baggage rightly, it will give you joy.Don't carry your knowledge-load for some selfish reason.Deny your desires and willfulness, and a real mount may appear under you. Don't be satisfied with the name of HU,with just words about it. Experience That Drunkenness.>From books and words come fantasy, and sometimes, from fantasycomes UNION.- Rumi"We Are Three" Translated by Coleman Barks "On the historical side, an ECKist who has studied a collection of Coptic texts known as the Nag Hammadi Library learned something ofinterest to Eck initiates. The text of the Nag Hammadi Library aremostly fourth-century copies of earlier Greek versions. The originaltexts were based upon the inner experiences of the gnostics. In those first three hundred years of the Christian church, however, the outer path had lost the inner journeys of Soul. All that remainedwere degenerated myths that reduced earlier spiritual experiences into nothing more than allegories. In his research, this ECK initiate found a dimension to the originalbiblical teachings that has been lost in today's church. In the Marsanes, a fragmentary codex, there is a guide to thirteen planesand a discussion of sound keys to the planes and luminaries of thoseplanes. The Paraphrase of Shem talks of inner travel as the mind'sseparation from the body, "as if in sleep". Another text, the Apocalypse of Paul, tells of Paul's heavenly journeys and his transformation upon reaching the tenth heaven. But it is The Discourse on the Eighth and the Ninth which is most interesting for us.It gives a hermetic exercise for travel to purely spiritual planes, including chanting a secret "name" that can be transliterated from theoriginal Coptic as HU. The Gnostics were people whose spiritual path was an inner one. Unfortunately, they did not balance it with a strong outer path, whichis why they succumbed to the institutional church of orthodoxy. Therefore, the secret name of God which had been set into their midst by Zadok was eventually lost. The future of Eckankar could hold the potential for a repeat of thoseearly times. The difference between (Eckists) and the Gnostics, however, is that we must be sensible enough to keep a balance betweenthe inner and outer teachings--giving the needed attention to both. Unless this balance is maintained, there is but a broken, one-sidedpath that cannot truly minister to the spiritual needs of people." Harold Klempfrom "Wisdom of the Heart" Muhammed is said to have said,"Whoever belongs to God, God belongs to." Our weak, uneven breathings, these dissolving personalities, were breathed out by the eternalHuuuuuuuu, that never changes!A drop of water constantly fearsthat it may evaporate into the air,or be absorbed by the ground. It doesn't want to be used upin those ways, but when it lets goand falls into the ocean it came from,it finds protection from the other deaths. Its droplet form is gone, but its watery essence has becomevast and inviolable. Listen to me, friends, because youare a drop, and you can honor yourselvesin this way. What could be luckier than to have the ocean cometo court the drop? For God's sake, don't postpone your yes!Give up and become the giver.- Rumi"One-Handed Basket Weaving"Translated by Coleman Barks Dennis Webber wrote:----------------------------poetry of Sultan Bahu 1628 -- 1691, a Sufi Master of the Light andSound of God (Qadriya Order) who lived in northern India. It's a love song to God...It represents the love of God for Soul. And we are Soul.It represents the enormous love that the Creator has for ITS creation.--Harold Klemp The Supreme Being has been called by various names indifferent languages, but the mystics have known Him as HU,the natural name, not-man-made, the only name of the Nameless, which all nature constantly proclaims. - Hazrat Inayat Khan By filling our world with the creative sound of HU, the unknown nameof God, we will become a channel for divine spirit. When used properly, uttered aloud or silently, the creative Soul will enable our Soul to ride the divine vibrations through all the realms of time and space to our own glorious destination. Paul Twitchell - The Flute of God p. 84 "You have the potential for greater happiness, love and understanding.Singing HU can bring these to you--through the Light and Sound of God. Throughout the ages, followers of many spiritual traditions have usedprayer, the singing of holy words, and meditation to bring themselvescloser to God. In the same way, those who have discovered HU, an ancient name for God, sing it for their spiritual upliftment. Regardless of your beliefs or religion, you can sing HU to become happier and more secure in God's love. HU is woven into the language of life. It is the Sound of all sounds. It is the wind in the leaves, falling rain, thunder of jets, singing of birds, the awful rumble of a tornado. "..... attached to this message you will find two image files,hu.gif and hu.jpg. The gif file is a very simple rendition of how Huwould commonly be written in Arabic or Persian (or old Turkish). It isread from right to left and it is common to use the image as a visualremembrance. The second image, hu.jpg, is much more complex. It is my rendition ofa classical way of representing the Zikr "Ya Hu ya Hu ya man Hu, la illa ha illa Hu". (Which means basically, "Oh Hu, there is no divinereality but Hu"). You can find the basic pattern of this design at theHageia Sophia and Rumi's tomb."

Guest guest
Hi Ien, It is pronounced like the word hue describing a color or light or like the first syllable of human. This word actually derives from the word HU or HU Manas Divine Mind. The mind itself is only an instrument and a part of the Divine Mind. The mind in man and the Mind of man are one and the same. The former is a piece of the latter. Many spiritual teachings seek to merge with the Universal Mind, or what they understand as Soul, in a bliss like union which some call Nirvana. Although the word Atma or Soul is mentioned often in the Bhagavad Gita, a wonderful bible like manuscript of the Hindu teachings, the understanding of this has been diluted over time and was even by those who wrote it. The challenge for the seeker has always been much like that which occurred in the teachings of Christ when those following his example, known as Gnostics, practiced the Self and God revelation as the way to awaken to the Kingdom of Heaven both mentioned and visited by Jesus. The inner teachings of any path to God are known only to the few whose capacity to receive and give love, to love themselves and thus to accept their worth and value to receive God's Love and the value and worth of all other men, whether in agreement with their religion or not, is of extraordinary and humble purity. Yet, it is true that each individual is perfectly placed within the vast continuum of viewpoints of God, which some collectively know as religion. The great challenge to the seeker is that the relationship between the mind in man, his own and the Mind of man, that of the Universal Mind closely parallels the relationship between Soul, the spark of awareness, atom structure, particle of God or Atma and that neuter Atom of Consciousness within which we each live and move and have our being, God. As there are many states of consciousness or ways to both view God and accept the Divine Blessings of Spirit, there are many teachers or what some call masters, who represent a doorway into that space of being that they themselves have mastered in their relationship to God. For some, it is Jesus, for others it is Muhammad, for still others it is Krishna and for some it is Buddha. There are and have been in the vast annals of man, many other masters to whom their disciples looked for salvation or spiritual liberation. The conundrum is such that each man (or woman) must find for themselves the pearl within the many oysters. Each is as valid as the other and all paths are merely ways for the devotee to learn more of God's Love. Is there an end to this or one right and final path? That is for each man to say from his own vantage point. Experience has shown me that life is ever expanding and deepening itself in Its encompassment of all that God is. As life is always present, so is God. It is for this reason that I have concluded that man requires a living teacher, one who is designated as the Living Word and the matrix for Divine Spirit to enter purely into the world within which man lives. He who seeks a living teacher is indeed wise, for that which is the Way changes as the expression of Itself within life changes and as the consciousness of those who are alive changes. As none of us are identical with the values and awareness that we held in our past, so is truth Itself, in Its varied expressions changing. Truth is invariant, God Is and Soul Is, yet Its expressions are always varied as life unfolds within Its eternal embrace. In times past, man understood life in a more primitive way, although some had gained a greater consciousness, even as some have today, that which was public was available to the masses and that which was esoteric or contained the mysteries of God was available only to those who knew how to access it within themselves. In time, that which was secret became public as man pressed forward in consciousness and Great Teachers awaited his awakening and assisted him at every step in his path to God. Unbeknownst to many, our purpose here in living is to assist God in awakening to ITSELF. We each are a microcosm, Soul, an exact replica of the Macrocosm or God. Hence, we are truly created in the image of our Creator and possess within ourselves all of ITS Divine attributes as latent capacities awaiting our realization. It is the exploration of ourselves, our microcosm, that lies at the heart of all of life and of living and is reflected in the time worn directive from all Great Masters to know ourselves, to seek first the kingdom of heaven within ourselves. The exploration of ourselves is why we were created out of God's Love. The Gift of life allows each of us to find within our own lives greater and greater evidence of Divine Love. In so doing, we serve God through awakening to ITS Love and thus becoming the awakened part of ITSELF and fulfilling the purpose for our Creation, to be a Coworker with God. The HU, pronounced hue and sung on the out breath as HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU affords each individual the opportunity to begin to consciously vibrate in harmony with his own inherent rhythm, what some call Self and the Rhythm of God, the Word which expresses Itself in all of life as the HU. As God Spoke, the HU set forth all vibration and the many worlds within ITSELF were created as well as you and I. The vast Wave of Light and Sound emanating from the very Heart of God and extending like an ocean wave to the very periphery of creation, the physical plane, has both an outward expansion and an inward return. It is for this reason that Truth varies in Its expression while remaining invariant in Its origin within the Heart of God. Thus, in every cycle of life, there is both the out breath and the in breath. Upon each out breath, that which is secret becomes public and God ITSELF awakens to that which is new and fresh in ITS never ending exploration of ITSELF. As we entered life on this Great Wave of God's Love, so shall we return to life on this Great Wave of Love. Experience has taught me that the great secret of life is to find the One behind the many and learn of the secret ways of God so that I may both live in this world and not be of it. So I say humbly to each who blesses me with their attention and reads these words that the singing of the HU will enable you to find that which is right for you in your journey home to God. If you have already found it, it will assist you to deepen and expand in your capacity to be the best that you can in whatever teaching you practice. The HU will give you access to the very Light and Sound which lie within your core of being and is not only of God but of you. All life transforms itself in the presence of Light and Sound. In like manner, singing the HU when you awaken, when you enter into sleep, when you are afraid, when you are lonely, when you are angry and when you desire to love that which seems unlovable (grin) will transform you into more of who you are. Those who take the time to close their outer eyes, breathe deeply and while opening their hearts to love sing the HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU on their out breath will discover greater access to healing, inspiration, love, awakening, upliftment, inner guidance and all that their heart desires in its quest to love God and serve life. I would be most happy either on this forum or at my personal email address, DrSABrown , to continue this communication with any forum member as you so choose. Thank you for asking your question Ien, it was like a key to a room within myself and this post is what I have just explored. Guest guest
There are many utterances such as hu and chi which are closely related to the concept of cabala.I want to introduce a new one from the native american culture.S he. Let me introduce you to Oklahoma, home of more than ninety percent of the tribes in America. The perfect place to put together a holistic school.Fountainhead is for sale through McIntosh County Tax certificate.$80,000.At very least you will get back your money and 7% if property goes up at Sheriff's sale. There are at least two other groups considering buying the place-the Scientolgists and Narconon and the Creek Nation Indian Tribe who want to turn it into a casino. It must be done through me.
