Dear Analise,

In my opinion it would be unnatural to give your body T3 instead of T4. A normally functioning thyroid gland would normally predominantly produce T4 and this would be converted to T3 peripherally. Any replacements you take because your thyroid is inactive should I believe attempt to mimic the natural situation. It is also important that you have regular blood tests to monitor your TSH levels. Such tests should ensure that you do not start taking to great a level of replacement.

What is the cause of your inactive thyroid gland? Often it has been caused by autoantibodies. I would also suggest using something like a Bioflow wristband. In my experience they have had a positive effect in various immunopathological problems, many of which are related to each other.

Best wishes,
