Guest guest
Hi everyone.. I'm hoping someone here might be able to answer this, or maybe point me in the right direction on how to look it up.. I make my herbal infused oils (calendula oil, for example) with a blend of apricot kernel oil and jojoba oil. Tonight I was thinking about switching to just jojoba, since I prefer that oil, and then I started to wonder about jojoba's ability to extract the oil soluble constituents from the plant. Since it's technically a liquid wax, would it still extract as well as a " real " oil? Does it make a difference at all? I feel like it works the same, as my jojoba changes color and aroma after infusing. But is it missing something that can only come out into oil? Does anyone know? Guest guest
Dear Lisa, I would use other oils than jojoba because jojoba is a wax and does not infuse herbs well. I have been making aged herbal infused oils for about 25 years and after many experiments when I was started out I decided not to use jojoba. I prefer base oils that you can buy readily from stores and wholesale. I hope that this helps. If you would like to email me offlist, please do so.
