Guest guest
Herbs aren't instant like prescription drugs, they take time. Always take them for three months before you give up on them. You might notice an improvement before that, but it can take three months. Depending on what you are treating and what herb you are using. And what kind of health you are in herbal remedies , " zoeyhannah " <tamchev@s...> wrote: > Hi! I'm a new member and hope to learn a bit about herbal remedies. > > I do have a question. Guest guest
Merry Meet everyone! I'm new to this list and just wanted to introduce myself.I'm Laurie, live in Indiana. Happily marriade, three grown children. I am Wiccan and a high priestess of a coven. I am also a Reiki Master/teacher. I teach Reiki throughout the week, usually three at a time in my classes. also teach a beginners crystal class, and a beginners crystal healing class. And I teach and hold drumming circles. I taught forth grade for twelve years, and left that to work for the state of Indiana as a Waiver Case Manager for the developmentally disabled folks out here. February I retired. I felt like a dog chasing my tail all the time. State cut backs got to be too much. I am currently enjoying retirement. And am working towards opening a metaphysical shop here within a year. I so love crystals, and continue to stay in awe by their power that they hold within. I look forward to communicating with you all. Guest guest
Hi Keri and Welcome! I'm Connie a full time mom and licensed massage therapist in S.C. I work *a little* on clients in my home. I also have 3 kids ages 8, 3, and 9 months; whew! Yes it's challenging and I have a hard working husband who works long hours. I have a question for you since you are a dietician! I'm having a terrible time trying to get the older 2 kids to try new foods, especially the 3 yr. old. They eat a lot of fruit, yogurt, grilled cheese & peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, pastas, some veggies but not many, and groung turkey dishes. Would you consider this to be a healthy diet for them? They don't get a lot of juice or milk, mostly water. I guess what I'm getting at, is how do I convince them to TRY NEW THINGS? I feel like they always eat the same things over and over. Thanks, Connie How low will we go? Check out Messenger’s low PC-to-Phone call rates. Guest guest
Nice to meet you Jude. I guess I never really introduced myself. I'm Marsha from NC. I am in my 50's. I used to be a barber and now I am a breeder of yorkies. I have always focussed on health. I have always tried to take just about everything in moderation. I am not a health fanatic, but I do watch everything I eat. Doesn't mean I don't eat some McDonald's fries on occasion, but I still feel I am fairly cautious and care about what goes into my body. I think different things work for different people and I definitely feel as though stress is a HUGE factor in many many illnesses. I believe that massage is an awesome healing tool, that correct alignment of the body is essential to our health, and that as individuals, we all need to know ourselves and our own body and its needs. I also believe that vitamins, herbs, and correct diet plays a huge role in our health as well. Guess that's enough for now... thanks. Guest guest
I can tell you that our naturopath suggests that if you can’t afford to go all organic, focus on the dairy products. Toxins cling to fat. Heather On Behalf Of maxglobalhealth Monday, October 22, 2007 9:17 PM To: New to the group I am new to the group but have really been looking for alternative ways to get more info on how to find more organic foods and what items are most important if you cannot be completely organic. Any advice is welcome.
Guest guest
I have been reading quite a bit about this myself, and it is quite a dilemma, if your budget will not allow all organic foods. I have found a few suggestions however that you might find handy. On fresh fruits and veg., for starters, if you do not or can not grow your own, buy them from local farmers markets when you can. Seems that your normal farmer, does not use as many or as much pesticides and herbicides, as the big growers do. Buy produce that was grown in the USA, other country's use harmful chemicals that are not even allowed in the USA. I found a group called Environmental Working Group, they have a site that you might find interesting. It is foodnews.org they have a lot of helpful advice there. I did notice that one of my local grocery stores has started caring more organic foods, and many times the prices are the same, or slightly higher. You might want to check around in your area there are certain big chain grocery's, the big WM for one, that imports a huge % of their fruits and veg. from china. I used to go to this store a lot, until I found out this info., and now I hardly ever darken their door for anything. I have not seen the amount of pesticides in cereal, crackers, etc., so not sure, but my feeling is the fruits and veg. are the worse. After I seen the % on the produce, I sure made sure I brought them home, and scrubbed them really good with natural cleaners. Hope this helps you. , " maxglobalhealth " <maxglobalhealth wrote: > > I am new to the group but have really been looking for alternative > ways to get more info on how to find more organic foods and what items > are most important if you cannot be completely organic. Guest guest
I would never tell someone to focus on dairy products. Milk DOES NOT DO A BODY GOOD!! This is old school teaching. Check out www.notmilk.com Cow's milk contains casein in which wood glue is made from. It is linked to many diseases. Got milk? Got asthma? It is NOT a good source of calcium because it is an acidic food and a diet high in acidic foods causes the body to buffer the pH balance by taking calcium FROM THE BONES. Gee, isn't the USA and Sweden milk drinking countries? Isn't the USA and Sweden the countries with high rates of osteoporosis? It actually puts young people on the road to osteoporosis Imagine that!!!! The nutritionists of the world need to do their own homework because you are still learning from old school just like most doctors. The farmer feeds the cows bovine growth hornones (which we get), then antiotics for the infections, (which we get) - no wonder our children reach puberty earlier. We also get the pus cells that the Dept of Agriculture is well aware of. Lots and lots of them. Got WIC? got asthmatic children? Baby formula - from whey (milk) email me for altneratives First thing I teach in class is MILK DOES NOT DO A BODY GOOD. Guest guest
Robert, this does not answer your question, but sheds some light on Hawthorne used for high blood pressure. Dr. Gwen Scott in her article " Natural Medicines for the Times: " Lack of oxygen puts a heavy strain on the heart. As heart disease is already the leading cause of death in this country, more oxygen loss is truly catastrophic. There is a remarkable herb that has been used for centuries to strengthen and regulate heart beat. It is very unusual because unlike most herbs which are unidirectional, it is bi-directional. This means if the heart rate is high, it has the ability to lower it. If the heart rate is too slow, it will increase it. Hawthorne in extract form has given the best results to my clients. It is VERY important that it contain both the fruit or berries and the flowers. If it has just one of those in the formula, my clients report that it doesn't work very well. Again, Herbs, Etc. makes an extract that contains both. " As for growing the tree, just do a Google search on it to find out what climates and soils it thrives in, and compare to your location. Guest guest
Hi Robert, Welcome to the forum. I live in London, UK! I'm afraid I'm rubbish at growing plants - perhaps when you buy one from a nursery - either in your area or on-line - they can advise you on which plant to buy and how to grow it? Guest guest
Welcome, Amanda! Thanks so much for joining us. We have a great group of people ranging from newbies to authors to educators to small business owners who create products with essential oils (EO's). As far as lavender in pregnancy... why not? I don't have Martin's 'Plant Aromatics' safety reference available at the moment so I'm hoping he'll chime in (as well as everyone else so we can help set your mind at ease)! Guest guest
Hi Amanda, >I am currently pregnant and have " heard " that things like lavendar >(really??) and peppermint are not good to have around. What you have heard is typical aromatherapy hogwash from badly educated therapists/authors. Both of these oils are used as food flavours and there are no restrictions on their use in pregnancy. Bearing in mind most toothpaste, chewing gum, etc. are flavoured with peppermint or similar oils. I am not advocating their oral use during pregnancy, but if you stick to their use greatly diluted, not a problem, because then volume you would get in your bloodstream is minute. Peppermint oil on the skin in later pregnancy is not such a good idea. It can be a powerful irritant at a time that the skin can become extra sensitive. There is an article on my website about herbs in pregnancy. Martin Watt http://www.aromamedical.com http://www.aromamedical.org ATFE2 , " amajennings " <amajennings wrote: > > Howdy all!
