SINCE MY GRANDDAUGHTER WHO IS ONLY 17 MONTHS OLD, CAN NOT SEE A HAND SANITIZER WITH OUT WANTING TO WASH HER LITTLE HANDS CLEAN. IRIS A good reminder as school is back in session. With this swine flu hanging over our heads children will be using hand sanitizer all the more. > Yesterday, my youngest daughter, Halle, who is just 4 years old, was rushed to the ER by her father for being severely lethargic and incoherent in her classroom. He was called to her school by the school secretary who said that she was 'VERY, VERY SICK'! He told me that when he arrived at her classroom, Halle was barely sitting in the chair. She couldn't hold her own head up, and when he looked into her eyes, she couldn't focus them. ........ Right as we were leaving in the ambulance, her teacher arrived at the ER and told us that after questioning Halle's classmates, She had found out that our little girl had licked liquid hand sanitizer off of her hands!!! >>>Hand sanitizer, of all things. But it makes sense. These days they have all kinds of different scents and flavors and when you have a curious child, they are going to put all kinds of things into their mouths. When we arrived at the Saint Francis' Hospital ER, we told the ER Doctor there to check her blood alcohol level, and yes we did get weird looks, but they did it. The results showed her blood alcohol level was 85% (should we assume 0.085?) -- six hours after we first took her. There's no telling what it would have been if we would have requested it at the first ER. Since then, her school and a few surrounding schools have taken..... Guest guest
there's sugar in hand sanitizer? it still doesn't cancel out the taste of the rubbing alcohol., yikes.
Guest guest
Even 1 squirt apparently is quite risky, and that I can immagine - between oral sensory focus still for so many young ones and they put artificial scents that attract. You know how kids can be very uninhibited about exploring their environment and not think. Note - the Thieves waterless hand cleaner smells like cinnamon and clove - and is real stuff, will only support their immune system if they taste it. PS - yup, like the Bliss Kitchen suggests, a little raw sugar, and spice (like cinnamon and clove!) and lots of butter or ghee will get them to eat carrots I'll bet....and well cooked it is reported we have much better access to the vitamin A than raw, interesting, eh? I did a dish for recent C-Section Mama here with yams cubed and coated with a mix of succanat, ghee, lots of ginger-pepper-cinnamon-clove and some salt, baked it mostly covered to stay moist. Her digestive system had been troubling her, her agni was still low and she SO liked it! Love, Ysha > how do you get a kid to eat 3 squirts of hand sanitizer when he won't eat carrots? sometimes. > Vicky
Guest guest
that sounds good, Ysha. I'm going to make it for a mom sometime, maybe make it for myself first. Vicky
