Guest guest
Dear Narayani; Do you know how to guide her thru the home/self version panchakarma cleanse? With vata/pitta vikruti, the ghee oleation sounds very important, as well as the self massge and bastis. Dr. Lad's Home REmedies book gives a good version, using dashmoola (water decoction) as a good base standard. Depending on how long she does it for occasional or alternate oil -even plain sesame can be good, about 1/2 cup may be indicated. But it is not my training to do the personalization preferred for best results over the internet or in person. Perhaps there are other advices available. The western alternative medicine style cleanses are not going to be beneficial for her vata vikruti. The dietary adjustments as I understand are except for the ghee, and possible lassi midday, a dairy, sugars, honey, fried and meat free version of her doshic recommended diet during the oleation, then light the night of virechana (castor oil purgation) and until the results of that are settled down. THen pretty much recommended is the kitchari monodiet during abhyanga and basti days, taking as many days to come back to a more varied diet afterwards as she was on teh cleansing process.
