Re: Supplements That Energize The Heart

---Lorenzo, I would differ with the author of this article on the

efficacy of Creatine when used as an aid in coronary heart disease.

Creatine will create other problems when taken over the long term for

it is known to work by shifting bodily fluids around from one part of

the body to the other (beneficial for body builders) but will

eventually lead to bodily dehydration with long term use.

This is one of those supplements currently under investigation by the

FDA. There are so many others that one can use safely for heart

problems, I wouldn't touch it nor would I advise anyone else to use

it, for as we get older we need an x amount of fluids daily in order

to maintain a smooth artery flow,... this is even more crucial when

artery flow is compromised by excessive plaque buildup.

Any benefits derived from this supplement would just not be worth in

my opinion as it has proven to have so many other undesirable side

effects.

Just my two cents.

I have an article around somewhere regarding this,

but just thought I'd share the basics.

--- Good Morning Lorenzo,

Apparently, this Creatine supplement contributes to weight

*gain*, concentrates in the *heart muscles* and assists in the

*contraction* of the myofibrils (muscle fibers).

" Once inside the muscle, it is phosphoylated to form creatine

phosphate which is a high energy substrate that assists in the

contraction of the myofibrils (muscle fibers) " .

FROM THIS DESCRIPTION, IT WOULD SEEM VERY DANGEROUS FOR ANYONE TO

CONSUME, especially the elderly whom are battling heart and artery

disease.

Going back to what I outlined previously, this is the very reason we

want to get maximum amounts of magnesium in our systems each day as

magnesium tends to relax the heart and arteries, whereas calcium and

creatine contracts the heart muscles causing unwanted spasms

ultimately contributes to heart attacks!

I'm sorry but why would anyone in their right mind want to take a

supplement that concentrates in the heart muscle, leading to heart

and artery spasms?

In my opinion, this is the very thing we're trying to avoid.

Recurring spasms seem to be a huge part of our problem,

expecially in those of us who have had CVD and coronary heart

disease. I really wouldn't want to take the risk.

It would just not be worth it in my estimation.

I am engrossed in taking supplements that promote heart health. This

supplement just doesn't seem to fit that description.

In my opinion it would be very detrimental even for a young person

to take this, for acording to what I've read, the creatine stays in

the system (heart) long after you stop taking it.

As I say, it works by drawing unwanted fluids into muscle mass.

Do we really want more fluids in our muscles? Isn't this why older

people take diuretics

(God forbid)? So how would any of us actually derive any benefit from

this?

" More fluid inside muscle cells makes your muscles feel fuller and

gives you a harder, more defined look. "

A high price for a good physique, I'd say! And...from various

internet sources, it doesn't work all that well unless you engage in

prolonged strenuous exercise...not at all good for the heart, in my

opinion!

This is mainly for those who are trying to project an image of a

healthy body! From all the hype regarding creatine out there, I'm

just wondering what the long term *benefits* actually will be!

This is just my two cents worth.

Take it for what it's worth, please.

Best Regards,
