Guest guest
In a pre-publication PMID: 12909818 [PubMed - in process] report, it was found that omega-3 works via the sympathoadrenal axis. As yet, it was known that omega 3, found in fish oil and flax seed oil, is a blessing for cancer patients and others too. But the mechanism of action was not known. This is the first study to my knowledge that isolates/identifies at least one of the possible mechanisms. Academically, I was perplexed because a special type of meditation was also giving very good results in cancer patients even in the absence of any other intervention. My discomfort was how to link up the two approaches. What was the common channel of action between Omega 3 and meditation? And lo behold I got the answer!!! The author working on meditation had also proposed the plasma cortisol as one possible mechanism by which meditation might be working. And here comes a good stuy on n-3 (Omega 3) tapping the same channel and getting the same result!!! This is lovely science!!! Ratan.
