ozonated water and gut flora

Re: ... " does ozonated water kill off good gut flora

also (like antibiotics)? "

Good question. First of all antibiotics are NOT " good

gut flora " , but I know what you mean. But lets say,

like friendly bacteria, they are (sometimes) a

'useful' gut ingredient.

Anyway, this question also comes up a lot also about

Colloidal Silver which, like Ozonated water, is known

to kill bacteria very easily. My answer and conclusion

is the same, both for CS and for Ozn'td water.

At least I will offer you my own experience...

Off and on for 7 years I have been drinking either

ozonated water or Colloidal Silver, (sometimes liters

a day). I NEVER have had any negative reaction from

either one.

Many have asked me " yeah, but maybe it's killing all

the 'good' bacteria in your gut, and you don't know

it. "

Impossible, and this is why: You couldn't kill the

friendly bacteria without experiencing the obvious

consequence... gas and bloating. That is the main

function of the friendly bacteria; to break down and

metabolize the food as it passes thru your digestive

system. Just enzymes are not enough. Therefore if I am

killing them how is my food digesting?

Good digestion means little or no gas (which causes

the bloating), and bad digestion will always lead to

gas and (usually) diarrhea.

Therefore, good digestion means the little friendly

buggers are still thriving even though I consume

quarts a day of ozonated water.

Want to prove it to yourself? Here's a test for those

brave enough.

Don't worry. This test is actually good for you,

(unless you health is compromised, in which case you

may want to consult a doctor.)

Anyway, the test is this... try fasting for 2-3 days.

Fasting is a wonderful way to cleanse your body of

toxins. Go on water and maybe a little clear juice

only for 3 days.

After a couple days your digestive system shuts down.

I am sure the 'friendly' bacteria are just about all

dead by that time. How do I know?

I have been doing fasts for 28 years since I was in my

mid twenties. I do one about every 4 months.

Here's what I found... In the first few years I made

the mistake of ending the fast with too big a meal.

And wow, tons of gas and usually diarrhea, not

painful, just uncomfortable and embarrassing for about

24 hours.

I know exactly what happened. There wasn't enough

friendly bacteria to digest the large meal I was

hungrily devouring.

It took me a year or two to finally figure out to eat

one small meal to break the fast, then wait at least

5-6 hours for the second one. Then I was okay. By that

time the friendly flora were back. (Bacteria grow like

crazy if they have the right environment.)

After all those bad and good experiences I have come

to know how it feels if the good bacteria really has

been killed.

When I am drinking CS water or ozonated water, that

NEVER happens.

My conclusion (not really mine but what I've learned

from others), is that friendly bacteria are usually

'aerobic' (they like oxygen), bad bacteria are almost

always anaerobic (they don't like oxygen and start

dying off).

Hence (IMHO) ozonated water is great for you. Drink

away.

Whoops, just realized I didn't answer the second part

of the question, ...does it kill antibiotics in the

gut?.

Well, sorry if I'm being anal but OF COURSE NOT,

because you can't kill something that's chemical.

Antibiotics are already 'dead' so to speak so how can

you kill them? But I assume you mean can it render

them ineffective? Well... I am not sure, but let me

offer a plausible possibility. Ozone is a very

unstable molecule. It is O3 in chemical notation, that

is 3 oxygen atoms, and that 3rd atom is barely hanging

on to the molecule. It 'wants' to break free, so it

easily attaches itself to whatever drifts by, (like

unfriendly bacteria). It in essence oxidizes

everything it comes in contact with, usually rendering

it less harmful. So I suspect it could 'oxidize' the

antibiotic, but " So What? " (this will get me a lot of

hate mail I know). If you are taking antibiotics you

obviously have a bacteria you are trying to kill. That

is the ONLY purpose for an antibiotic. (Stay with me,

I'm almost to my conclusion).

If you take the CS water or O3 water it will

neutralize the bad guys (I believe) more effectively

than the antibiotic will, so once again, SO What if it

zaps the antibiotic, why not use the safe alternative

rather than the chemical killer, which is notorious

for becoming more resistant to bugs anyway.

But if taking the antibiotic makes you feel warm and

fuzzy, my opinion is to take both.

BTW as a side note, there are many kinds of

antibiotics. You worded the original question like

there's just one thing called antibiotics. Testing may

show O3 may have an affect on one and not on another.

Still as I concluded, I think it is irrelevant since

the CS or O3 water is better anyway.

All this has been my opinion. I am not an M.D.

I am a Computer Systems Analyst by trade and and a

Research Analyst by hobby. Please don't throw tomatoes

at me if you don't agree.

Best wishes, and again, good question...

Mike O

PS just to add two more cents, I suggest the Colloidal

Silver over the ozonated water, but they're both good.

(There's a great CS group you can get more info on at

www.silverlist.com)

And another two cents... If you haven't tried it, I

have an bathtub attachment for my ozonating machine

that my family and I use which pumps little O3(ozone)

bubbles throughout the bath water, very good for you,

and kills the bacteria which can harbor in tubs

(especially ones with kids who play sports).
