I notice many of these can be gotten downtown at Walmart right now or ordered from a seed and plant catalog. I have to say I was disappointed that Wooly Lambs ears are not salad vegetable as I thought. I got one, and then learned its for putting in bandages on wounds. It does look yummy! Elaine Prickly Ash Zanthoxylum clave-(use dried bark)stimulates circulatory system useful for rheumatism, skin diseases, varicose veins Cockscomb-Celosia cristata(childsii) stops hemorages and diarrhea, helps clear vision English Daisy bellis perennis- tea is a gentle laxative also helps stomach and intestinal problems helps heal inflamed swellings and burns Evening Primrose Oenothera- Eat roots in salad White Swan Echinacea Gay feather Liatris spicata - tea for kidney disease or gargle for sore throat Money Plant--leaves edible in salads Hyacinth Bean Lablab purpureus Dolichos lablab - treats dysentary, summer heat disorders, bloody stools American hydrangea Hydrangea aborescens- prevents and expels bladder and kidney stones Juniper Juniperus communis- used as a urinary antiseptic in cysitits Wooly Lambs Ears Stachys byzantina-bandage wounds Chinese Lantern Physalis alkekengi-edible berries inside lantern like calyces. berries eaten raw or in preserves or pie. Recommended for fever or gout. Love in a Mist Nigella damascena- seeds used in bread White Oak Quercus alba- used internally or externally to treat hemorroids, menstrual problems, varicose veins. Oregon Grape Mahonia aquifolia- roots are blood purifier Butterfly weed (pleurisy root) Asclepias tuberosa -orange red flowers. Roots act specifically on lungs as an expectorant and antiflammatory. Valuable for all chest complaints including pleurisy. Periwinkle Vinca Minor Violet Blue flowers- astringent and sedative properties Sweet Pink Dianthus x hybrida- edible flowers Chinese Privet Ligustrum lucidum- invigorates liver and kidney.For tinnitus, blurred vision, dizziness, premature graying, enhances white cell count. Garden Speedwell Veronica longifolia- respitory problems Also don't forget the properties of purslane, Plumbago, cilantro, and other normal everyday things we have around us.
