Thanks for replying and helping me test the system.

Be very careful about using Western terms to describe Chinese concepts as the

two rarely correspond.

One of the first things you learn in TCM is that Western disease entities and

medical conditions very rarely correspond to TCM syndromes. One of the few that

does is the common cold, which in TCM is referred to as Wind Cold Attacking at

the Exterior Level. (The TCM terminology is going to sound very strange at

first, but the more familiar you get with it, the more it makes sense.)

Most Western medical conditions do not correspond to TCM syndromes and at most

are viewed as symptoms that can occur with various TCM syndromes. A good example

is asthma. In the West asthma is viewed more or less as a uniform medical

disorder for which the treatment is basically the same for all asthmatics. There

may be some slight variations in treatment like also treating allergies if it's

determined that they're a component of the asthma, but the same drugs and

inhalers are standard treatment for all asthmatics.

TCM reconizes that asthma can occur as a symptom of several different TCM

syndromes. What TCM healers treat is not asthma, but the underlying TCM

imbalance. Treatment among asthmatics will vary greatly in TCM because the

underlying imbalances can be very different from person to person. In one person

the root cause may lie in an imbalance in the Lung meridian (like Deficiency of

Qi in the Lung or Lung Overheating) but in other cases the underlying imbalance

may be in the Kidney meridian (as in Kidney Refusing to Grasp Qi). The treatment

will be different in all 3 cases.

BTW, doctors in modern China will not hestitate to use Western drugs to treat

cases of asthma or any other medical problems that don't resolve satisfactory

with TCM or to treat conditions where time is critical. In general, Western

medicine is recognized as better at treating crisis situations and TCM as better

at treating chronic conditions.

Welcome to all... it seems that we are always having new people, although some

are lurking and not introducing themselves :-)

The forum is open, meaning that you can start a topic or respond to one as you

like here. I am glad to see so many folks popping up like hot corn in a pan

lately.

Hello All,

I wanted to express how much I enjoy this group--I consider it a great

gift--and I wanted you all to know especially Caroline how grateful I am--

I tend to lurk--There are a couple of reasons for this and I thought I'd

share them with the thought that perhaps others have experienced the same

sort of " phenomenon "

I have always had an interesting relationship to anything technical or

mechanical--I am working with this--something with my field--its gotten

less intense recently as evidenced by the fact that this 2nd harddrive

hasnt self destructed--I am in faith--watches always stop on me which is

fine--but the big stuff like stereos blowing up and telephones apparently

speaking in tongues can be a little disconcerting--

The way this applies to the lurking issue is that I find I can only spend a

very limited time in front of this thing--I completely leave my body--its

not daydreaming or thought wandering its leaving--I turn the thing on and

within 5 minutes or so I'm gone--I look at the clock and an hour has

passed--or 2--or 3--

So basically what this means is I have enough time to read the posts but

then my limit seems to have alloted and I have no brain left with which to

respond to anything--

So thats my little lurking story--its taken about 3 hours to compose--

I really am in acceptance of this--it simply is--I figure if this is meant

to change it will--it doesnt affect my work--it seems the human energy

feild is of a very different vibration and we get along famously--it feels

like the technological vibrations seem sort of fast to me and we behave a

little like oil and water--

So thats it for now--

Thank you for this forum--its so wonderful to connect with likeminded souls

out there--

PEACE

SAB

Hi, Peggy, etc.

I just signed up, and didn't get the right e-mail address in that I

wanted, so could I ask that everyone put in the following e-mail

address for me? (Sorry to be such a dolt right off the bat, sigh) I

would like to have everyone use the kinglizrex60 address

rather than this current one. I have so much traffic on this address

that I sometimes get inundated and start deleting willy nilly. Not

good form, I know, but it happens, (sheepish grin).

Thanks so much all,

Liz, you're not alone in the changes dept. I had to change my dratted

id, a procedure that filled me with terror, after all the

trouble I had with the switch from onelist. At that time wouldn't

let me on with any nickname approaching normal, or even my own name, so

I signed in with my *dogs* names.

So from now on I should show up as heather, as opposed to

dotdashsunnymolly....:-)

Hi Attilio, Well done for setting up the

TCM group it's a really good idea especially

to share our experiences after the end of the

course. I vaguely remember talking about

setting up this kind of thing - it just shows how

much CW and stress has happened since,

(or maybe my memory is going through old

age !)

I managed to get in and saw you had posted your

CW (very brave !). I read a bit, it sounds impressive !

Will add stuff when our group work coursework has finished

which will hopefully be soon !!

Welcome to natural healing. I changed jobs and haven't been here much

but I encourage everyone to speak up and ask for help and offer help

here. We are all on journeys to change our diets and repair damage done

to our bodies. Articles and info are welcomed. Take care, Kelly
