[bates] read something for the first time in my life

Well a couple days ago I read something for the first time in my life with my right eye (I can only see shadow and light in this eye due to a cataract I was born with). I have been patching my good eye every day and doing the palming and shifting and I think it is really working--I looked at the clock on the microwave and actually read the time with my "blind" eye. My old eye doctors would have had a fit, no matter how many times I told them I could see light and shadow they would never listen and they said there was nothing that would restore vision in that eye. Well, to them I say--HA!
