The March issue of Homeopathy 4 Everyone is now available online at

www.hpathy.com. There are a variety of articles, including one on

Homeoapthic Home Kits, coauthored by Siegfried Letzel and myself.

Please do go through the ezine and give your valuable feedback.

I was very disapointed with some herbal remedies I have recently

tried, fennel and peppermint drops and dandelion coffee. Both were

revolting to my taste buds and made me feel quite sick.

Dear Katrina,

It is quite understandable. Our taste buds were designed to protect

us from eating unripe and unwholesome foods, so that we don't ingest

such foods. But, there are some literally bitter medicines that are

good for restoration of health.

Even modern medicine has some preparations that are revolting in

taste. One has to close the nose and just swallow!

Anyway, pl. use any herbal supplements with caution. If your system

is unable to tolerate them, you need to check out alternatives. I

noticed that you are in UK. If so, Homeopathy and Bach Flowers are

good option. If you need any specific help, pl. do write to me off-

line.

With best wishes,

I threw the coffe away and the fennel and peppermint drops are in my

medicine cabinet. The directions on the drops was to take so many

drops at a specific time but there was a small measuring cup supplied

which to me didn't make sense.

My bloating is showing little sign of abating so far, I have been

moved home now since January 16th. I am planning to get myself a

bike when the weather gets warmer and if this has no effect I will

have to see someone about it.

I still feel there is a strong chance that I have acites. I am now

11 stone and normally go around 9 and a half.

Dear Katrina,

A measurement of BMI (Body Mass Index) will tell you whether it is

fat or fluid, that has caused the weight gain. If it is fluid, yes,

it could be Ascites or Edema. Is the renal function normal? Can be

relatively easily checked by - measuring the urine output in 24

hours, - serum creatinine test and - BUN test. If these are normal, a

LFT, a liver function test may be in order.

It is always essential to understand the underlying cause, unless,

you are going the pure homeopathy route, where you, as a person is

the focus of treatment and Ascites as a symptom is probably last. And

a good 'homeopathic' remedy, that is a remedy which matches, the

patient's symptoms with its own provings, resolves physical

complaints, without the why element.

Best wishes.

This is very interesting, my partner says it is fat but as it wobbles

and feels so soft I am sure it is fluid. I think gettting this done

must be the first step to sorting this out once and for all. How do

I get this BMI test, will I have to go to my GP? I dont mind going

if it is something that they will do for me.

Dear Katrina,

Yes, going to GP will be the right thing to do. Either they will be

able to do themselves or refer you to another. I am not sure exactly

how it is done, but it refers to the ratio of muscle and fat. And a

good doctor will of course know whether it is muscle, fat or fluid.
