Guest guest
Hi Jeff, Erectile dysfunction (ED) is usually related to an underlying pathology, such as diabetes, vascular disease, MS etc., or can be caused by meds (e.g. antihypertensives, diuretics, antidepressants), and/or drug and alcohol use. In some cases it relates to fear or anxiety around the sexual response (psychogenic ED). Typical treatments try to resolve the underlying factors and boost vitality and fertility. As such, general sexual restoratives might be used such as Ashwagandha and Kapikachu, as well as non-Indian herbs such as Epimedium (Horny Goat Weed), Milky Oat seed, Ginseng, and Saw Palmetto. Yohimbe bark (Pausinystalia yohimbe) is sometimes recommended, and is the closest thing to a 'herbal viagra' but can have some unpleasant side-effects, and like viagra, is contraindicated in hypertension and vascular disease. Sometimes its just an issue of aging and requires a little more patience and gentle input from the partner to get things going. The most important thing is to understand WHY it is happening and then work to resolve this. Just taking herbs like viagra will probably provide less than satisfactory results. Caldecott, Dip.
