Any person who can operate a computer can learn ayurvedic principles

of diagnosis and treatment through the software. It helps a

practitioner to follow Ayurvedic method in analyzing the symptoms and

`Vaidya' is such software developed by Dr.Ajit. B.A.M.S based in New

Zealand, in order to help doctors to practice more efficiently. Using

this software we can find out the `doshas' aggravated in each `srotas'

(tissue channels) without any effort. There are 14 types of detailed

examinations including `prakrti', pulse (prakrti, vikrti, & organ),

tongue (color & coating), eye (tissue & organ), urine, stool,

appetite, bowel movement, sleep, skin, memory, temperature, climate,

weight, etc. After these signs and symptoms have been input. We get

the final diagnosis regarding the imbalances happened in each organ,

dhatu (tissue) and tissue channels (srotas).

Then the treatment options based on this pathology will be

demonstrated. This includes traditional treatment, herbal treatment,

asavas and aristas, and bhasmas. The therapeutics of these different

When I was in Primary school I learnt French. I arrived in secondary school

to find they taught " phonetic " French to help the students learn - I

couldn't do this at all - I already knew the correct way to spell and read

French as it is written. I learned Homeopathy from a Homeopath, so long ago

now that I do not want to relearn - I find that going by my intuition from

many years of practise, based on my original learning over 7 years, that I

find the correct remedy and get the results I want. So when I say I can't

abide it - I mean I don't want anyone else's translation of homeopathy, I

prefer my own knowledge & experience, and I have materia medicae here should

I need them - so you could say that the problem I have with homeopathic

software is my personality - or my needs, or lack of them.

 

I also still managed to get 98% in French in the Higher School Certificate.

 

However, for the beginner or for those who do not have this disadvantage -

is software a good or a bad thing? What is your opinion Swamy?

Dear Jane,

 

Some times repertorisation is quite tedious and the software helps.

Once you get the indicated remedies to say 3 or 4, you can quickly

recheck your choice by going to the materia medica which is also

built-in. That way, it is an aid for a busy practitioner. If a

beginner tries it, he/she may not get the best choice. The results

will be similar to what they would get if they try to repertorise.

i am not sure how software can be used for something as important as health.

it would be like saying a software can be a jyotish

the astrology software can cast a chart prepared by mathematical calculations

but has not intuition with which to decipher planetary combinations and no way

to listen to the seekers experiences and now way to prescribe remedies.

My husband is a very good jyotish and pundit and many people come to him for

advice. Currently every tom dick and harry in india has jyotish software and is

doing matching for marriages. My husband has counseled many people who have

been told that their charts match based on a point system calculated by

compatibility of moon signs. The problem with this is that the matching only

looks at one point in the horoscope and thus people who should never be married

due to lack of compatible horoscopes are told that their charts match great

based on this rashi point system. Later they come on the verge of divorce for

help.

 

The same should not be done by people without training in ayurveda using

software to " help " people restore health.

 

We already have these types of biofeedback machines etc in the west and I have

seen many people being cheated out of major money and loosing their helath as a

result of computer aided medical advice.

 

I find that going by my intuition from

many years of practise, based on my original learning over 7 years, that I

find the correct remedy and get the results I want.
