hello ,

There are many causes of allergies but these problems are very common

in childrens .So we should try to avoid childerns from allergic pollens

like dust etc.

Poor immunity is also another cause of allergies .

so if we will boost immunity then we will get better results

wre should give anti-allergic medicine & immunity booster also like

CHAWANPRASH , AMASTHA AWELHE & SWAMLA COMPOUND etc.then u will get

better results n also get caring.

Thanku

rima:

a strict avoidance of gluten containing foods (e.g. wheat, rye,

spelt, kamut, oats, barley), industrial milk and refined sugars will

go a long way to taking the reactiveness out of his system -

basically, there is an issue of cross tolerance between the pollen

proteins and the cereal proteins; in addition, the industrial milk

and sugar plays havoc with the immune system, promoting the growth of

fungal pathogens in the nose and sinus

basically, the ayurvedic perspective is that it is AMA that

accumulates in the nose that underlies the reaction, so an AMA-

reducing approach is best

in addition, avoid any refined cooking oil, and try to get more omega

3 fatty acids in his diet, from flax seed or fish oil

you can also teach him what i cal the " 3Ns " : nasya (1-2 drops of

sesame oil or anu tailam in each nostril), followed by neti (with an

isotonic solution of purified water and salt) and then nadi shodhana

(anuloma viloma, or alternate nostril breathing)

dietary changes and the 3Ns alone have " cured " several cases of

allergic rhinitis alone

a couple helpful herbal remedies include 1/2 tsp trikatu with 1/4 tsp

of neem leaf powder, mixed with honey and followed with a glass of

warm water, before meals

1-2 cups of tulsi tea a day will be helpful as well

when his eyes are itchy, rinse them with cool water (stings a little)

and let him relax in a cool, darkened room until the acute phase passes

I wrote a post on my blog about curing my pollen allergies

r-Spring-Allergies.aspx> . Everyone in my family suffers from really

bad allergies, especially to pollen. My worst allergy is (was) to oak

pollen. I use a lot of Ayurvedic remedies - they work when nothing else

did.

Dietary recommendations in earier posts should be followed. Neti, Nasya

may be difficult but once learnt under the guidance of an experienced

person, they will provide life time relief.

Here is a quick fix home remedy, for temporary relief.

Take 2 cups water and put on low fire, add 2 pinches turmeric, 11 fresh

leaves of tulsi if available (1/2 tsp tulsi panchang powder will also

do), 1/2 inch piece of fresh ginger root crushed before adding, 1-2

black peeper. Let boil till 1 cup remains. When lukewarm add 1/2 lemon

juice and jaggery/honey if available. Drink this three times a day.

Continue for a week after problems subside. [Turmeric, lemon and ginger

essential, rest all use if available]

another alternative is 1/2 tsp ginger powder, jaggery 20 gram, 1 tsp

ghee, adjust quqntity of ghee for consistency. knead, make a ball and give him

15 minutes before breakfast, lunch, dinner.

1 or 2 drops of coriander juice in eye, 2 times a day (at bedtime and before

getting up) will take care of itch in eye.

There are amnmy things you can do for your young one. Be sure there

are no chemicals in the diet. Many yoga postures are good for

allergies, especially cobra, bow and forward bending exercises. If

possible, take a cold shower in the morning. This will strengthen the

immune system. My teacher said that a cold shower is equal to one hour

of yoga.

Hi David

I have suffered from hayfever all my life. When I was young, we lived next to a

farm, and I

remember cutting the grass and dumping it over the fence for the cows, who

hungrily ate

it up. Unfortunately my pleasant memories of this are obscured by the intense

hayfever I

experienced, often time so bad that I would sneeze about 50-60 times and my eyes

with

swell like two puff balls. As a child I went through immunotherapy and used the

various

OTC medications. Despite the fact that nothing really helped all that much, I

did learn to

modify my response with my mind. Thus when I walked by someone cutting their

lawn

and I was walking by their property, I would talk to myself, to my immne system,

telling it

that there was nothing wrong, that there was no threat. Even when my eyes

became itchy I

could prevent a full blown attack with this method. However, it obviously

wasn't a solution

and took so much concentration that on these usually wonderfully sunny spring

days i

would usually end up staying inside, in a cool darkened room, essentially

meditating

myself out of a response.

It wasn't until I was a practitioner that I made the link between grass pollen

and dietary

grasses like the many cereals we eat, and more specifically, those that contain

gluten.

Since that time, I have implemented a seasonal avoidance of ALL gluten

containing foods,

as well as dairy (given the cross reactivity of casein and gluten) and this in

large part has

stopped any significant symptoms. Additional measures as I mentioned are nasya,

neti

and nadi shodhana. I have since replicated this success in many patients,

sometimes with

the help of various herbal formulas and supplements, and sometimes not.

Generally speaking, I use herbs that clear mucus and ama, reduce heat and

balance vata.

At its most basic however, hayfever is a reflection of ama, so an ama-reducing

agni-

enhancing approach is best. All in all I can think at least 50 different herbs

and formulas

hat can be used for hayfever, depending on the symptoms. For example, I might

use

herbs like Nettle and Chrysanthemum tea to cool the inflammatory repsonse, herbs

such

as Xanthium and Trikatu to enhance agni and reduce ama in mucoid accumulations,

Mullein and Elecampane to strength the lungs, and Ashwagandha and Milky Oats to

support the immune system. This is only a small selection of many different and

useful

herbs, so contact me off list for the full protocol. I also use a number of

targeted nutrients

including n-3 PUFAs, vitamins A/B/C/D/E, Bioflavinoids, Mg, Zn, MSM, NAC and

full

spectrum digestive enzymes. Useful formulas include Trikatu, Pe Min Kan Wan,

and

Alarasayana.
