Guest guest
Hi, thanks for answering my last bunch of questions. I thought you were gone for a minute. Glad you're still around. My next bothersome request was I was hoping you could write out your menu plan for a week. I know you said your dosha was Vata, so is mine, but I'm having a hard time figuring out what to eat ( keeping out Pita foods also) that tastes any good. I seem to be eating a diet of steamed veggies, which is lacking in taste and getting quite boring. I know healthy food can taste good, I just don't know how to make it so. Thanks, MB
Guest guest
Hi MB You are welcome. Always feel free to ask any questions. For most people this information is new and questions are to be expected. The diet strategy while healing rosacea is to eat food according to your body type and avoid foods that increase pitta (heat) and congestion. Diet should center around cooked whole grains, legumes, vegetables, and some fruit. A couple teaspoons of sunflower oil is sufficient for added fat. A small amount of raw sugar is ok. Raw sugar is called sucanat in the health food store. Herbs and spices from the anti pitta list should be added for flavor. A sample menu would look like the following. Keep in mind your body type and avoidance of heating and congesting foods. Breakfast Cooked warm cereal like cream of rice or oat meal, fruit of your choice, raw sugar, milk alternative like rice milk or oat milk found in the health food store. Lunch Cooked white basmati rice and quinoa grain, cooked mung beans, steamed leafy green vegetables, herbs and spices of your choice, sunflower oil. Dinner Cooked stew of split peas, lentils, vegetables, herbs, spices, whole wheat no yeast bread found in the health food store. A slow cooker or crock pot works well for making this type of stew. Dessert Vanilla rice milk pudding You can find numerous recipes from around the world in the book Heavens Banquet by Miriam Hospodar. You can modify most recipes when you know the basic principles of which foods to choose. The two best books on diet that I have found are Ayurvedic Healing by Dr. David Frawley and Live In The Balance by Linda Prout.
