Guest guest
UNDERSTANDING REIKI Re = spiritual intelligence Ki = life energy Reiki: spiritually guided life force energy Understanding what Reiki is and how it works connects us to a basic knowledge of the human existence as a state of energy in constant motion. This universal life force flows through us individually as well as throughout the universe. If this energy is not blocked or stagnant it is continually recycled. When energy of the body (physical and/or spiritual) becomes blocked discomfort (dis-comfort), illness (ill-ness) or disease (dis-ease) manifests in some form. Facilitating the recharging of these stagnant energies with the introduction of pure Divine life force energy is the purpose of the Reiki practitioner. There is sometimes some confusion about the role of the Reiki practitioner during a "healing". Practitioners are often called "healers". THE REIKI PRACTITIONER NEVER HEALS. The practitioner merely offers a connection to Infinite Source that the client is able to utilize to promote their own physical and spiritual well-being. Effective healing demands that the root of the illness be owned and acknowledged and that the client ("healee", "receiver") will allow a healing to occur. The receiver of this energy must be a partner in their own healing. During a healing session the Reiki practitioner subtly and powerfully channels this energy to the client attuning the mind/body/spirit connection to Infinite source. The Reiki practitioner NEVER offers his/her own energy, nor does he/she allow the client to attach themself to his/her personal energy, but rather acts as a conduit to Infinite Source and completing the connection. The client, connected to that energy through the facilitation of the Reiki practitioner, is the one that performs his/her own healing to the highest good of that individual. The Reiki technique is a light touch of the hands along prescribed positions of the body during a healing session. Divine energy passes through the practitioner's hands to the client. This technique is practiced by sometimes touching the body directly to wherever the practitioner is guided, touching the auric field alone or a combination of both. I myself find direct contact with the body most effective. Always ask permission from the client before the session begins if they will allow physical touch. Sessions are given fully clothed and last approximately one hour. The length of time for a session is not a hard and fast rule, the practitioner will be guided through his/her connection to Divine Source when the "healing" is finished for that session. Remember, that as practitioners we must never instigate a healing. While going through my training I wanted to perform sessions for everyone and always asked, "Do you want me to do a healing?". My ego was severely crushed when people actually said, "No, thanks anyway". After I had sufficiently depressed myself for being turned down by everyone I approached, I asked my mentor what their problem was. I'll never forget her response to me. It was EACH SESSION IS A UNIQUELY CO-CREATED EXPERIENCE. A SESSION MUST BE REQUESTED, ALL YOU CAN DO IS MAKE YOURSELF AVAILABLE TO ANYONE WHO ASKS. YOU CAN NOT DO A HEALING FOR THEM, YOU MUST WORK WITH THEM. WE MERELY FACILITATE ONLY WHEN ASKED.
