Guest guest
Ayurveda information scattered across the net tempts people to go for self medication. The success of online consultations which have become possible recently remain to be evaluated. Sometimes this can produce negative opinions about ayurveda. When ayurvedic herbs are used in proper manner and under prope health evaluation, such reactions are eliminated. Few cases of tumor like benign clots, cramps, muscle pains and loss of sensations which came to this author required some investigation and as a result, the culprits at root were found to be synthetic hormone pills. This is being summarized here. Switching to bio-identical hormones along with clot/tumor attacking medication of ayurveda resolved most of the cases in less than 3 months. In previous ayurveda message# 6045, attempts to suppress availability of bio-identical hormones in market by Wyeth have been discussed. The cancer risk was suggested in ayurveda message# 5508, while influence on central nervous system in starting incontinence was indicated in ayurveda message# 5925. In this post author gives advantages and some side effects of popular synthetic hormones. The experiences of some of the users are also included in the form of a link where responses are recorded. In the end, ayurvedic alternatives are discussed in a general way. Let us first look at culprits: Estrogen and Progestin (Prempro® or Premarin® + Provera®) Pros: Reduces hot flashes and vaginal dryness. May slow bone loss in some women. Cons: Causes breakthrough bleeding, mood swings, fluid retention. Significantly increases risk of breast and uterine cancer. Selective Estrogen Reuptake Modulators (SERMs, notably Evista ®) Pros: Unlike older HRT drugs, SERMs do not seem to boost risk of breast cancer. Cons: Increases hot flashes, boosts risk for serious blood clots in the legs, lungs or eyes, especially for sedentary women. Can cause severe leg cramps. Estrogen Used Vaginally (Vagifem ®, Estring ®, Estrace ®) Pros: Reduces vaginal dryness. Cons: Has no effect on hot flashes. Headache, abdominal pain and vaginal pain / irritation have been reported. Estrogen Patches (Estracomb ®, Vivelle ®) Pros: Convenient drug delivery through skin patch. Reduces hot flashes and vaginal dryness. Cons: Can cause skin irritation at the patch site. May cause nausea and vomiting. Other side effects are similar to those from HRT pills: breakthrough bleeding, fluid retention and mood swings. See experiences of users of synthetic hormones on the link: http://www.newmediaexplorer.org/cgi-bin/mt-comments.r484.cgi? entry_id=2283 [Copy and paste the link in browser window for proper access] Ayurvedic approaches: Use of Shatawari extracts or mixture of Shatawari, Ashwagandha, Vidarikand, cow urine distillates made using kashayas of these, Arishtas such as Ashokarishta, Dasmularishta, Arjunarishta and Kumari Aasava and ghrutam such as Shatawari ghrutam, Khadir Ghrutam, Phal ghrutam, were used depending on each case. Stress, anxiety disorders were tackled by using brahmi vati, saraswatarishta etc. Ayurveda offers a wide scope for treating peri-post menopausal problems. Combination of these herbal medicines together with panch karma treatments such as swedan, virechan, vaman could reduce obesity too to a comfortable level. Meditation/breathing techniques were taught where patient showed willingness and had time. dr bhate
Guest guest
Menopause is a natural process and in most cases would not require harmones if proper diet of seasonal vegetables and seasonal fruits is consumed as will be clear from the following article: THE FOLLOWING ARTICLE WAS PUBLISHED IN THE kARMAYOG DIGEST # 514 DATED 7 oct 05 AT ITEM 11. IT WAS SENT WITH REFERENCE TO TREATMENT TIPS GIVEN IN AN EARLIER ISSUE OF THE DIGEST: SMA Menopause is a natural process ordained by Mother Nature not only in human females but also most females of other species totalling 8.4 m. (84 lakh) species (yonis). Many ladies get hot flushes and other health problems during this period making them run from pillar to post. But that is not necessary. If they take it lightly as one of many other life's problems behaving naturally like eating more of seasonal fruits and seasonal vegetables, mostly raw or lightly cooked sans too much of condiments or toppings, drink plenty of water to keep the kidneys flushed and the blood purified by passing the toxins through urination and do natural exercises as the working village women do in the villages, menopause will pass off peacefully without any complications. It is the modern lifestyle and eating of fast foods and over-processed items sold by food processing companies that are loaded with harmful chemicals and preservatives and drinking of soft cola or other drinks and sedantry life style that create all the health problems during menopause. As to what exercises are to be done, please log on to www.atbsnr.com to learn the exercises that hardly take a few minutes but ward off and cure aches and pains and promote total health and blissful wellness leading to deeper meditation and self realization, the latter applies to those who are a bit spiritually inclined. S. M. Acharya, Founder of ATBSNR.com who has helped many menopausal women suffering from post menopausal problems like hot flushes, etc. --- Shirish Bhate <shirishbhate wrote: > Ayurveda information scattered across the net tempts > people to go > for self medication. Guest guest
Dear Acharyaji YOur thinking resoanates with this author's. Due to 20% more blood which brain receives in post-menopause condition allows women to enjoy post-menopausal life! Author has put down these thoughts in color(i.e. in computer screen) at: http://health.ayurveda/message/1416 Today, women are driving cars, suburban trains and even Boing 747s. THey are even doing round-the-clock call centre shifts, operating telephone switches in exchanges, press reporting at all odd hours etc. Unfortunately, the women beyond 35, who are passing into peri- menopause stage due to stress of modern life are suffering by the symptoms, and there is no relief. There is no time. Typically, get up at 5:30 am, cook for the family, fill up lunch boxes, leave house at 8 am sharp, return home after hectic day in workplace at 7 pm purchase stale veggies and store in fridge for one whole week, and relax just for 45 minutes. Dinner at 10 pm and goto bed at 11 pm. The bio-identical hormones are for this bank officer, who cant take vacation for anti-stress programme. Leave job? NO NO NO! dr bhate , SM Acharya <smacharya wrote: > > Menopause is a natural process and in most cases would > not require harmones if proper diet of seasonal > vegetables and seasonal fruits is consumed as will be > clear from the following article: > THE FOLLOWING ARTICLE WAS PUBLISHED IN THE kARMAYOG > DIGEST # 514 DATED 7 oct 05 AT ITEM 11. Guest guest
Dear Dr. Bhate, Thank you for conveying your views with which I agree fully. If you are operating around Thane and Mumbai, I am sure, you must be visiting Pune sometime or the other. All Maharashtrians do have friends and relatives in Pune which is said to be the cultural capital of Maharashtra. If you let me know when you come to Pune, I would certainly like to meet you personally and pay my regards. As to your comments on ATBSNR website and the technique, I had prepared a detailed reply as to what I have been doing about citywise list of beneficiaries and other things mentioned by you. But unfortunately, the lights went off and every thing was gone. We shall personally discuss those points and then make a joint effort to make this simple technique reach out to as many humans as possible. My personal experience with hundreds, nay thousands of patients and normal persons practicing ATBSNR is that even when a person is 100 per cent healthy and fine, even that person feels immediate lifting up his spirits beyond his belief. On Wednesday, 22nd March, I was invited to deliver a talk on " Total Health & Wellness with Zero Backache " . When a patient who was suffering the most out of a 200 strong audience was cured of all his back pain, neck pain and all other discomforts and started feeling in excellent health and wellness with no physical or mental problem with a sense of absolute freshness and lightness in the head, it was explained to him and all others in the audience that if within three minutes, if one felt in such a good health, one could imagine the health benefits if one could put those exercises into instinctive movements daily whenever one wanted to enjoy life with ecstacy and bliss. Slowly, this technique makes a person go into meditation leading to 'self-realization' in many cases when one is slightly attuned towards spiritualism. I have been witnessing this wonderful drama enact and re-enact before my very eyes but the ordinary mortals interested in small benefits like back, etc. pains do not or are generally unable to appreciate these deeper benefits. With love, respects and regards, Yours in the Lord, S. M. Acharya PS: Besides, the technique is so simple like moving your legs, feet and sometimes hands in a synchronized movement effortlessly just for a few minutes, that most people deride and laugh at such a simpleton and laughable method. No one can realise that it could be that refreshing unless one does it himself preferably in my presence so that I can guide him how to do it without tension like a small baby in the mother's lap. --- Shirish Bhate <shirishbhate wrote: > Dear Acharyaji > > YOur thinking resoanates with this author's.
