AYURVEDA IN NERVOUS SYSTEM

 

 

The ancients considered nerve impulses to be a kind of wind or air traveling through the body. “Vata” the biological air humor, is the energy that moves through the brain and nerves,controlling voluntary and in voluntary functions. W hen any disturbances or blockage occurs in the pathway of vata by other 2 humor(pitta, kapha) or by ama(undigestedparticles) so vitiation of vata occurs and moves in wrong channels, produces physical symptoms like spasms,rigidity, numbness or paralysis and if it is goes in wrong

channel produces tremors..

In Ayurveda, nervous system disorders are linked with mental disorders, the mind and nerves are directly connected by a system of special channels.Therefore,mental conditions should be examined carefully with any nervous disorder.

Nervous system disorders include such minor problems as insomnia, headacheand tremors,major malfunctionslike epilepsy or paralysis,and such degenerative nervous diseases as multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease, many of which are difficult to treat with western medicine.

GENERAL TREATMENT

 

The treatment mainly for vitiated vata by removing the blockage in its channels by administering “pachana” aushadhas(medicines). If there is any wasting if nerve tissue (by malnutrition,poor digestion, hyperactivity or blockage of nerve energy over a period of time) then nourishing food ,herbal preparations as well as some external treatments are necessary.

External treatments plays important role in these disorders.Special treatments like

Navara kizhi, Navara theipu, pizhichil, shiro dhara, shiro vasthy etc helps the patients to bring back their sound body and mind.

After the treatment good nourshing anti vata food should be administered to the patients.
