No offense taken here. But I think all parents need to understand the

risks on both sides. What if you don't vax and your child does get

measles. It's a scary disease now, when once it was considered part of

childhood. What if you don't vax and your kid never gets any of the

childhood diseases anyhow and never develops immunity. Some childhood

diseases are deadly to adults. My son, BTW, hasn't been vax'd for

chickenpox. I hope that he does catch it as a child, but from whom?

Right now there is lack of informed consent for parents regarding

vaccines. They should have removed any vaccine containing thimerosol years

ago. Instead they are using up old stocks, while telling parents that they

don't need to worry, everything is under control. Sad. :(

It takes a hell of a lot to courage to not vax your kids. One of my

friends has twins and hasn't vaxx'd. When they came down with chickenpox,

she really started to doubt herself. Either way, it's a hard decision.

All the best,

Avril

I think being informed, and knowing how to look after children when they are

sick, what signs to look for, and when to panic and when not to panic -

these all help, in that you feel more in control. What doctors have

unintentionally done is to take away our common sense when it comes to

disease, and run to them to " fix it up " all the time, and not use our

brains.

I went to a childhood illnesses course when my eldest was a baby, and it was

so empowering. I guess after three kids, and having been through chicken

pox and Whooping cough, you don't panic as much when they get sick. In New

Zealand because the vaccine is virtually unheard of, nobody worries about

chicken pox. So you get spots, so what? What you need to know is that

Vitamin A will help alleviate a lot of the symptoms. Same with measles.

The reason why some kids get so sick (apart from those who already have

immune problems) - we are talking normal so called healthy kids here, is

that they lack Vitamin A stores in their bodies. When they get an infection

like measles, they use up what they have, and there is none left to fight

infection. Vitamin A is essential for any sickness, but particularly

measles.

When my 3 had chicken pox, it wasn't a bother. My eldest only had 4 spots.

He had very high temps, and even a febrile convulsion, but it was o.k. we

knew what to do, and he got over it just fine.

I think fear has crept in due to the media and doctors who promote vaccines

(like, your child will die if they are not vaccinated) and who want us to

fear so we will vaccinate.

I am not saying that all vaccines are bad - what I am saying is that we seem

to have lost our common sense with regards to childhood illness. Why do you

think they had measles parties years ago - parents know it was better to get

it over and done with while you were a child. Childhood diseases also

enhance your immune system, and protect the body against the bigger immune

diseases like cancer, arthritis, MS etc. This is even documented in medical

journals! Why they don't listen to their own advice I don't know.

Be informed - don't be brainwashed. You fear because you have no options.

From my point of view - we live in a fallen world and will ALWAYS have

sickness in it. To think we will cure all disease is crazy. It will be

replaced with new ones. Vaccines cause this to happen. When we disrupt the

ecological balance of disease, we create new ones. We now have a nice array

of immune diseases, instead of polio, smallpox etc. They are just as

deadly. The best way is to eat well, keep away from artificial rubbish, get

adequate sleep and exercise, and be positive. Easy to say, but still the

answer. Prevention is always better than cure.

I teach my kids (who do like junk food by the way) cos their kids......that

anything God has made is good for the body, and anything man has made is

not. It's easier for them to understand what is good and what is not, in

food that is. So an apple is better than fizzy drink..... hey, I wish it

was that easy to brainwash them!!! I am trying.

Hi Mindy,

I took my son to be vaccinated thinking I was doing the right thing

by my child. Had I known then what I know now.........

I will never be offended by anyone who has taken the stories of

people like me seriously, I can take most things except the constant

accusation of being a scare-monger ( something the NHS here seem to

like to do !)

When I take Charlie to see his consultant I have to sit in reception

with the kids waiting to have their vaccinations and I find that so

hard.

I REJOICE if my story helps you feel more comfortable about your

decision.

Thanks Avril for your kind welcome - I look forward to picking your

brain !!!!!

Regards

Deborah

Hi Nick and Avril ( again)

I think what you say is interesting.

When the Govt in the UK decided to introduce the MMR they re-wrote

the Govt issued analysis of the childhood diseases. Measles went from

being a childhood disease which can be devastating in 3rd world

countries and can have complications and serious outcomes (but

rarely!) to being a child killer. I know that this can be a terrible

illness and I am not trying to be flip but when I was a kid we all

had it - it was part of growing up and our parents reacted in a

matter of fact way. I never heard anyone have a serious outcome - it

was rare. I never knew anyone or heard of anyone or had friends of

friends of friends who knew anyone who had a bad outcome -----but

now - everywhere I go I meet people who know about autism because

their child or their friend or their grandchild has developed it.

I feel nothing is guarenteed and we are 'throwing out the baby with

the bathwater'. In trying to guarentee our childrens safety we are

exposing them to more than they can stand.

The statistics quoted are always global icluding countries where

regretably the children have lower mortality rates and do not have

the normal range of immune response that our kids have.

We do not have a chicken pox vaccine overhere - it is just one of

those things - and the statistics are that last year 8 people died in

the whole of the UK. Eight people is eight too many but none of them

were children and none of them died from chicken pox but from

developing a virulent form of pneumonia following chicken pox. As

they have decided to introduce a chicken pox vaccine now the talk is

of this danger to our children when that danger is ,in truth , very

small. Please ,please understand that having had my son talked about

as if he is just the price we pay for other kids to be safe from

measles I would never dismiss the tragedy that these illnesses can

cause to real kids and real families - I just think that the price is

getting to high.

Regards

Deborah

Doctors do listen to their own advice (only 10% actually get vaccinated

themselves, and *many* docs don't vax their own children)...they just don't

bother to share the info with the rest of the world. *sigh*
