Guest guest
Good morning, Now that I'm coming out of the shock of my new-found situation, I'm thinking of safe alternate ways of helping myself with the pain of withdrawal. Have any of you tried auriculotherapy? It's non-invasive, almost painless, and helps with other things too. I'm new so I hope this is okay to share this information. It's not meant to replace your examination, diagnosis and treatment by a doctor. In fact, you need a professional person to utilize this. And I would Never Ever just stop meds even if these seemed to work. Better safe than sorry. I just wanted to share my ideas with people in similar circumstances. Perhaps one of these would help your agony of withdrawal or make the time shorter? My TENS unit helps me with my horrid pain And it also helps me through my panic attacks. It sort of feels like someone is hugging you. I've always thought people who are going through anything traumatic should be prescribed a TENS unit. It takes the edge off and makes you feel 'someone is behind you':-) My dad, sister, brother-in-law and family friend all smoked like-a-fiend for years. One treatment on their ear with auriculotherapy and they were all done smoking for life. That was years ago. This was done by a nurse with a master's degree in a neurologist's office in the Lee County Hospital in Ft. Myers, Florida as an out-patient. Perhaps your doctor knows of it? It doesn't work permanently if you've ever had a 'holding' shock or been struck by lightening. I've had both as a child, though the lightening only struck the clothesline directly over my head. So it was always temporary healing for me. But it sure worked for the rest of the family. When I have more than two nickels to rub together, I'll try this again. I appreciated any break in pain it gave me. Also, do you know anyone with an Alpha Stim machine? I believe they help you go through the pain of withdrawal. Your doctor might give you a prescription for one. This country requires a prescription to buy one. Hope this helps some of you, Kate
Guest guest
Good morning, Kate, Could you explain to me what exactly is a " Tens " unit? Where did you get it? Does it have to be done/treatment received by a doctor? Also, what is auriculotherapy? Is that different than a Tens unit, or are they one and the same? Thank you, Gail - mk <knowledg <benzo >; Wednesday, November 07, 2001 12:42 AM Auriculotherapy/ Alpha Stim > Good morning, > Now that I'm coming out of the shock of my new-found > situation, I'm thinking of safe alternate ways of > helping myself with the pain of withdrawal.
