This is completely wrong! Coconut oil has zero cholesterol! People,

cholesterol is not a plant derived substance... you can only obtain food

based cholesterol from animal products! I think you are confusing

cholesterol with saturated fats! :-)

My doctor said they were re-thinking which oils were good an bad due

to resent research. He didn't stick his neck so far out as to tell

me Coconut was one of the oils they were wrong about now. From all

I've read Coconut oil is one of the good guys right up there with

olive oil. Some doctors may not keep up an all books haven't been re-

written. I've been using it about 6 months now an I love it.

I did hear a doctor on one of the morning news shows mention it

positively. I thought that was a break thru.

While coconut oil is a saturated fat ,it is a short chain molecule which

keeps it from going rancid (the same molecular quilities that also give health

benifits) . This made coconut oil highly valued .However it was only a matter of

time before it to fell victim to the saturated fat witch hunt. During the " war

year " coconut oil has harder to come by and the country could not keep up with

the supply and demand .Consumers were encourage not to use coconut oil because

it was a saturated fat.The hydrogenated oil companies quickly pick up the

opportunity to further market their product. It is big buisness and medicine is

part of that..... I doubt they're likely to change .Doctor's are the foot

Thanks, Mary

Makes sense if Coconut oil helps thyroid that it could address hair loss

which can be thyroid related.

I love the serendipity of your message as I have a client with hair loss who

is quite upset by it. You wouldn't know to look at her, but she says her

hair used to be much thicker, and she's very self conscious about it. I will

recommend the organic coconut oil.

I've been taking it for awhile, and I started really slowly. I still take

much less than a TBS at a time. If I take it in food I'm fine with it. It's

great instead of butter on baked potato, and a little mixed into hot cereal

is nice too.

Re: peanut oil, olive oil,

coconut oil

Judith,

Re the Coconut oil.

You might want to slow down on taking one TBS with each meal to avoid

possibly getting close to bowel distress. I would start with only one

TBS a day and then up the ante as things go well. Make sure the oil is

not from copra since it is processed a lot.

When I was losing too much hair, 1 TBS a day of coconut oil slowed it

down a lot. I cannot say what other good stuff might be happening.

I do like the flavor and use it instead of butter on my veggies. Love

the taste on green beans especially.

Anna, there is no essential oil... but look at Virgin Coconut Cream

Oil... a solid that melts at body temperature and smells intensely of the

coconut it is made from.

combined with natural cocoa butter it smells like a Mounds bar!!!

Hi Anna,

Go to Vitamin Cottage, or Whole Foods, or any health food store and purchase

Extra Virgin Coconut oil. It is very fragrant with coconut smell, very good to

eat

and very good for out skin. Happy hunting.

It works best if you put the lime in the coconut and you drink them

both up...

I don't know about 6 tablespoons, but if you use coconut oil wherever

you used to use margarine or butter you might be able to get close. I

don't know how strict your cancer diet is, but I use coconut oil

instead of butter on sprouted whole wheat toast. I've heard of people

putting it on popcorn instead of butter.

I can't do it. 6 teaspoons if I persevere, but I have to stay close to the outhouse! No way could I do 6 tbsps! It would mean LIVING in the outhouse! It's summer here and 27° C and I'm not keen on the texture of the liquid oil. Today I cooled a spoonful in the fridge , slid it off the spoon and thought it would start melting on the way down the hatch. It set too hard and I now have a very sore throat as it didn't melt quickly enough! I put it in fruit smoothies to get more in. Gotta say that it is beautiful with pineapple. All it needs is a liberal dash of gold

rum. Ah, sweet memories!Maracuja

Someone mentioned popping corn with coconut oil but I thought you were only supposed to use coconut oil on low temeratures. Wouldn't trying to pop corn be too high of a temerature?

One has to work his/her way up with virgin coconut oil starting with 1/4 or 1/2

teaspoon til you get to 6 tablespoons per day. Ingesting more than above initial

amounts would really send you to the " super bowl " due to the hexheimer effect,

specially if there is a lot to clean up in your digestive system and elsewhere.

Intervals between increase of intake is at least a week to two weeks. There was

a woman with breast cancer, i forgot her name, who was given up by docs here in

the US. She went home to her grandmother's rural farm town in the Philippines.

She ate fresh organic vegetables and fruits and 6 to 8 tablespoons vco plus

feasting on the coconut meats and juice as well. I don't know if she drank

coconut sap which is said to contain inositol. Anyhow, she was healed of her

cancer. I understand she went to produce virgin coconut oil commercially too.

One has to work his/her way up with virgin coconut oil starting with 1/4 or 1/2

teaspoon til you get to 6 tablespoons per day. Intervals between increase of

intake is at least a week to two weeks.

Here is the story of a woman, Julie Figueroa, who used virgin coconut oil for

her brain/breast cancer and went on remission and established her own virgin

coconut oil company.

Doctors in Philippines and US diagnosed her with brain cancer " cheese looking

brain eaten by rats " , isn't that also the description for mad cow disease? That

is just me, always curious. But she was medically diagnosed with brain

cancerand got a remission so i'll leave it at that.

==========================

MY BATTLE WITH CANCER

In 1998, I was running a computer company in New York. I also had an Internet

company in the Philippines and was in charge of a very exciting Internet trade

show in Asia (Internet World). I was very busy and enjoying work but always made

sure I got my yearly executive check up, including my yearly mammogram. In

February of 1998 I got a clean bill of health.

A few months later I began feeling a strange sensation in by breasts. By late

October it developed into a sharp pain. I went to the doctor and was immediately

referred to an oncologist for testing. I was told I had a very aggressive form

of breast cancer and needed surgery immediately.

This came as a shock to me. I began to wonder why? There was no history of

cancer in my family. Was it the toxic waste in New Jersey where I had lived for

the past ten years? Was I stressed at work and did not know it? I thought there

had to be a reason why people get cancer.

Before going through with a mastectomy I wanted a second opinion. I went to a

different specialist but he told me the same thing. I kept trying to find a

doctor that would tell me that all I needed was a lumpectomy or just

chemotherapy. Finally, the fifth doctor told it to me straight, " You don't have

a choice. We don't even know if we can still save you. You are at stage 4, the

most serious stage; we need to do the surgery immediately. "

Here I was, in February cancer free, now just eight months later I was knocking

on death's door with a very aggressive form of breast cancer. I went through

with the operation and afterwards several months of chemotherapy. While doctors

said that the cancer was under control, it wasn't completely gone. So they kept

me on medication.

I decided to go back to the Philippines for a visit. I owned a farm there that I

loved and had always wanted to grow medicinal plants. The farm was filled with

coconut trees, which were harvested for the copra. I thought about planting

coffee under the coconut trees and start an herbal medicine garden. Then in 2001

I began to experience painful headaches. They became so severe that it felt like

the bones in my skull were being fractured. I walked into my doctor's office and

told him I wanted an X-ray of my skull. " Were you in an accident " he questioned?

" No " I said, " I just feel that I have some kind of fracture in my skull. "

He smiled, " How do you know you have a fracture? Maybe a stronger pain killer

will solve your problem. "

" I know what a fracture feels like. " I said, " I've had several bones broken in

the past and I know what it feels like. "

He didn't argue any further and I had an X-ray taken. I went back the next day

to see my doctor and instead, met with seven other doctors. They had never seen

the type of skull cancer I had. Almost half my skull looked like cheese that had

been eaten by rats. I was in shock. I asked them “what were my chances for

survival?†They said, " In the Philippines, at your stage ... none. " I probably

had two months.

I took the next flight to the United States. I went to see my doctor the

afternoon I arrived. The doctors in Manila had already faxed and spoken to him

about my condition. The next day I visited with my neurosurgeon. We discussed my

condition and scheduled a craniotomy. My prognosis was poor. He ordered an MRI,

CT scans, bone scans, blood work, etc. This was the same cancer that had so

aggressively attacked me before. It had now spread up into my skull. Surgery was

scheduled for the morning after.

The cancer was hairline close to the main artery in my brain. The bad news was

that he could not take it all out; 20% of it was at the back of my skull in the

center over the main artery. Chemotherapy had not been successful after breast

surgery so there was little hope it would be of any use now. But at this point,

it was the only hope I had.

My chances for survival were grim. I knew I'd better make the most of the time I

had remaining. After several months of recovery from the surgery I went back to

my farm in Philippines to visit my family.

I was really weak and would just sit on the hill watching the farmers work among

the coconut trees planting coffee seedlings. I knew I had to do something to

strengthen my immune system. I wanted to plant an herb garden. I started doing

research on what medicinal plants I should grow that would boost my immune

system. I thought about planting ginseng or bitter melons. I even considered

growing a shrub from the Amazon.

Just about that time, I came across some research on coconut oil. I read about

clinical trials for AIDS in the Philippines using coconut oil. I figured if

coconut oil can boost the immune system and cure AIDS, it might work for my

cancer.

I started taking 3 to 4 tablespoons of oil a day plus whatever I used in

preparing my meals. I would add it to my oatmeal in the morning, put it in my

hot chocolate, and cooked my meals in it. I also snacked on fresh coconut and

drank coconut juice.

By July my doctors started to worry. I had been gone for nearly six months. They

needed to monitor the cancer that was still in my skull. So I flew back to the

US. To their complete surprise I had gone into remission. They asked me what I

had done. I told them I found a cure-virgin coconut oil. Today I continue to use

coconut oil and I am cancer free!

I had grown up around coconut trees in the Philippines. My grandmother used to

make coconut oil from fresh coconuts just as many of the farmers did. I never

used it because we were told it was a saturated fat. We were health conscious so

we used hydrogenated soybean oil and com oil. I had coconut oil around me all my

life. It took getting cancer and a desperate search for a cure that made me

rediscover this miracle oil.

I know that it is not believed that cancer is always a fungus, but coconut being beneficial for cancer people rather reflects that sometimes cancer can be a fungus in part. Coconut is a natural anti-fungal. It is interesting none the less.

I kept trying to find a doctor that would tell me that all I needed was a lumpectomy or just chemotherapy. Finally, the fifth doctor told it to me straight, "You don't have a choice. We don't even know if we can still save you. You are at stage 4, the most serious stage; we need to do the surgery immediately." Here I was, in February cancer free, now just eight months later I was knocking on death's door with a very aggressive form of breast cancer. I went through with the operation and afterwards several months of chemotherapy. While doctors said that the cancer was under control, it wasn't completely gone. So they kept me on medication. I decided to go back to the Philippines for a visit. I owned a farm there that I loved and had always wanted to grow medicinal plants. The farm was filled with coconut trees, which were harvested for the copra. I thought about planting coffee under the coconut trees and start an herbal medicine garden. Then in 2001 I began to experience painful headaches. They became so severe that it felt like the bones in my skull were being fractured. I walked into my doctor's office and told him I wanted an X-ray of my skull. "Were you in an accident" he questioned? "No" I said, "I just feel that I have some kind of fracture in my skull." He smiled, "How do you know you have a fracture? Maybe a stronger pain killer will solve your problem.I know what a fracture feels like." I said, "I've had several bones broken in the past and I know what it feels like." He didn't argue any further and I had an X-ray taken. I went back the next day to see my doctor and instead, met with seven other doctors. They had never seen the type of skull cancer I had. Almost half my skull looked like cheese that had been eaten by rats. I was in shock. I asked them “what were my chances for survival?†They said, "In the Philippines, at your stage ... none." I probably had two months. I took the next flight to the United States. I went to see my doctor the afternoon I arrived. The doctors in Manila had already faxed and spoken to him about my condition. The next day I visited with my neurosurgeon. We discussed my condition and scheduled a craniotomy. My prognosis was poor. He ordered an MRI, CT scans, bone scans, blood work, etc. This was the same cancer that had so aggressively attacked me before. It had now spread up into my skull. Surgery was scheduled for the morning after. The cancer was hairline close to the main artery in my brain. The bad news was that he could not take it all out; 20% of it was at the back of my skull in the center over the main artery. Chemotherapy had not been successful after breast surgery so there was little hope it would be of any use now. But at this point, it was the only hope I had. My chances for survival were grim. I knew I'd better make the most of the time I had remaining. After several months of recovery from the surgery I went back to my farm in Philippines to visit my family. I was really weak and would just sit on the hill watching the farmers work among the coconut trees planting coffee seedlings. I knew I had to do something to strengthen my immune system. I wanted to plant an herb garden. I started doing research on what medicinal plants I should grow that would boost my immune system. I thought about planting ginseng or bitter melons. I even considered growing a shrub from the Amazon. Just about that time, I came across some research on coconut oil. I read about clinical trials for AIDS in the Philippines using coconut oil. I figured if coconut oil can boost the immune system and cure AIDS, it might work for my cancer. I started taking 3 to 4 tablespoons of oil a day plus whatever I used in preparing my meals. I would add it to my oatmeal in the morning, put it in my hot chocolate, and cooked my meals in it. I also snacked on fresh coconut and drank coconut juice. By July my doctors started to worry. I had been gone for nearly six months. They needed to monitor the cancer that was still in my skull. So I flew back to the US. To their complete surprise I had gone into remission. They asked me what I had done. I told them I found a cure-virgin coconut oil. Today I continue to use coconut oil and I am cancer free! I had grown up around coconut trees in the Philippines. My grandmother used to make coconut oil from fresh coconuts just as many of the farmers did. I never used it because we were told it was a saturated fat. We were health conscious so we used hydrogenated soybean oil and com oil. I had coconut oil around me all my life. It took getting cancer and a desperate search for a cure that made me rediscover this miracle oil. - Julie Figueroa Founder and President of Nature’s Blessings, Inc. Agreed! I use spinach, nettles, comfrey, dandelion, celery and chickweed! Other fruits I use are the dark berries including black raspberries. But the pineapple/coconut base is my favourite. dream of the Pacific Islands while drinking it! Pineapple isn't grown commercially here, so I suppose it won't be long before they are irradiated too. A friend has a garden centre which sells exotic fruit for New Zealand conditions and has begun selling red pineapples, so that is next on the agenda as I have never had a problem growing bromeliads..I can't get mangoes that have not been irradiated. How I miss them!

Images of the children with juice from elbows to eyebrows come to mind! Yum!Maracuja--- On Mon, 2/2/09, Tammatha <tammatha wrote:Tammatha <tammathaRe: Re: coconut oiloleander soup Date: Monday, February 2, 2009, 10:44 AM

Raw organic virgin coconut oil is fantastic for smoothies you are right! Pineapple, mango, banana and believe it or not spinach, not kidding sounds weird but it is so yummy creamy! Green smoothies are so healthful.

Once you heat it though it isn't quite as beneficial, it is best raw.

The de-oderised coconut oil has a very bland taste and if you keep it in the fridge you can use as a bread spread you may flavour it with marmite or honey. You get used to it .

Hi Rose,

Coconut or palm oil can be used at high heat because they do not break down. It is the vegetable oils that break down into trans fats...deadly...vegetable oils...avoid. Coconut oil...very healthy!!

The confusion comes from the disinformation marketing campaign to sell deadly soy and canola oils...lies,lies!!

And I use coconut oil to pop my organic popcorn!

Nonie
