Sunburn

I totally eliminated my sunburn in 3 days using chaparral tincture! I am fair skinned and burn easily. This spring I was out in the sun for 4 hours. It was cool and windy and so I never gave the sun a thought, and after visiting with a friend for 4 hours outside, when I got into my car to go home I felt heat on my face. An hour later, when I got home, and looked in the mirror, my face was burnt, along with my upper chest that shown above my shirt. Now normally, this would mean days of pain and then my skin would peel and I'd look like a lizard with all that loose, white, peeling skin.

The only thing I had on hand was chap tincture, made from vodka and dried chaparral that I had purchased on line. I immediately poured a tiny bit in my hand and then rubbed it all over the burn. I did this about 5 times the rest of that day, and by evening the pain was less than half. My skin felt very dry from the alcohol so the last time, before bed, I put on some store bought skin cream. Next day I did this routine again, only for 4 times, and had no pain at all by that afternoon. This time, after each chap application I put on some cream to help with the dryness. I noticed that my skin looked as if it actually had a tan! I realized this actually came from the chap tinc as it is very dark brown and has a tendency to slightly stain the skin. But because I don't tan (I simply burn, peel and new skin stays white for the next burn) this "fake" tan looked nice.

By the third day I only applied the tinc once, and never did I experience any more burning or any peeling at all. I have heard that for a large sun burn over the body you can put dried chap herb into bath water and it will relieve the burn. I believe it now. I'm glad I tried the chap tinc because now, though I do avoid burning, when it accidently happens again I'll know how to avoid the whole burn pain and peeling scenario. I am also going to try it as a sun burn preventative next time I'm going to be outside for a length of time.

Eat a couple of tablespoons of tomato paste per day for about 3 months, as it reduces the damage done by sunburn, thanks to lycopene. Saw this successfully tested on The Truth About Food - BBC Science Unit.

I like aloe! Works great and is good for your skin.

We have had super luck with Lavender essential oil mixed with and any oil (since the burns typically happen in the kitchen I just use olive oil). It takes the pain of a burn away almost immediately. Also, we use the homeopathic remedy cantharis. My sister in-law received a bad steam burn when she lifted the cove to a pot of boiling water. It was looking like it would definitely blister. Not knowing how she would respond I waited a few hours before I finally asked her if she wanted to try some cantharis. She was willing and the pain subsided substantially. (it works best if you take it immediately). She called me the next day to tell me that she was amazed. Not only did it never blister, there was barely a pink spot showing where the burn originated.

It is so cool that mother nature has supplied us with so many ways to heal one type of problem!

My father has blood under his skin for the last few years due to 1) old age thinning skin, 2) not going out into the sunshine and 3) the medicine he takes. I wonder if the flax seed oil would in cream would help him. I might even try mixing in some thickened oleander soup into the cream.

What is FOCC?

Nontoxic skin lotion mixed with flax oil, reapplied whenever heat recurs will end sunburn pronto. My husband had skin poisoning, purple blood beneath his forearms for over 20 years from working outdoors in desert in short sleeves. I mixed FO into skin cream, and within 2 weeks his skin turned from purple to brown. Within 2 months, this long term problem was gone. By the way, one of the effects of FOCC is prevention of sunburn. I was in high desert last year, and didn't need the nontoxic sunburn cream I acquired as preventive. Rhoda

Coconut oil when applied on sunburns/kitchen burns

with blisters, removes pain and also if you apply at

night and wrap the injured area, the next morning, it

is like nothing happened to it.

I plan to go to the beaches for 10 weeks

in the Caribbean this summer everyday. My children

will be playing in the sun. I have only use of commercial sunscreens. Does

anyone have a sure non-toxic or natural spf 50 sunscreen?

Renee, it centrainly won't hurt him to try either.skin cream. If his skin is very sensitive, perhaps a small amount to start. Rhoda FOCC is flax oil homogenized with cottage cheese in a specific ratio; it's the heart of the Budwig Protocol. Very powerful, and successful for the majority who can do the entire protocol. Oh thanks. I know the Budwig plan, but had not heard of the FOCC. I'll have to look up the ratio, and make up some of the cream for dad to tr,

Not what I meant. I used regular nontoxic skin cream, and simply added flax oil. I didn't try FOCC topically, nor have I come across anyone who has. Rhoda

Good way to PREVENT sunburn: An ayurvedic oil self-massage (abhyanga)

with cured sesame oil. Had heard Deepak Chopra recommend it at one of

his lectures; made a point of doing it in the morning before spending a

long day at the beach without much of a previous tan. Not the slightest

HINT of a burn.

I know that virgin coconut oil makes good sunscreen. I splash it all over my body before i enter the seawater. It gives a nice tan without any burn. It does have UV protection too. I just don't know the SPF. Everytime i get out of the water, i reapply the vco again. I really got a beautiful tan using vco. I was in the water more than 4 hours, in and out and reapplying each time before i returned. Melly

I have just been on holiday to Mauritius 2-9th April, and was warned that it was

really hot, and you get burnt so quickly and didn't want to ruin my short

holiday with pain and discomfort. Before I left, I read about taking Vitamin A

tablets to prevent sunburn and I remembered as a child my mother used to give us

tablets after we got burnt on holiday.

I found a product called SunSense which has " powerful antioxidants, providing

protection against UV radiation, and offers natural and safe support against the

harmful effects of the sun, and decreases the risk of sun damage "

They recommend that you start taking the tablets at least a week before

exposure to the sun.

You can read about it on www.nutrent.co.za

In addition I bought an expensive " extreme UV sun-defense body lotion made by

Gaia organics www.gaiaresearch.co.za

I did burnt the 1st day as we were out in the sun all day, and it was mildly

painful, but nearly 2 months later I haven't peeled, and I still have a faded

holiday tan. My husband who just puts on oil and zero protection factor,

peeled while still on holiday and peeled the week we got back.

So was it the sunsense tablets that prepared my skin or the Gaia cream? not

sure but something worked

I read somewhere that applecider vinegar takes the sting out of sunburn.

regards

Annette

To " cure " sesame oil for purposes of ayurvedic self-message, one adds a

dash of water and then gently heats it until the water starts to

" crackle " . Then the oil is cured. Let cool to warm and massage (and

gargle).
