Moderator's Note: Leslie, thank you for this post. I would also suggest getting

as much information as possible from as many sources as possible and decide for

yourself in the end. When CODEX was in the throws of being passed, snopes.com

said that was a hoax too. I have personlly attended the national coalition for

health freedom's conference and personally know people that went to the CODEX

meetings to fight for health freedom. Any source of information can be flawed,

biased or worse- so thanks for the reminder that we need to think for ourselves.

Best Wishes,

so Hello All and thank you for letting me join!

My name is Leslie and I've been studying herbs for over 18 years. I'm

still definitely not an expert; I always find out what kinds of

existing medical conditions folks have and refer to my PDF for herbal

medicine most every time before I recommend an herbal treatment.

My father had by-pass surgery in 1982 and died of pneumonia related

to a weakened immune system from taking chemo for liver cancer in

1988. My mother died last year from a second round of colon cancer, I

should say, massive colon cancer which blocked her system in three

places. In light of this, you can imagine my interest in the causes

of the cardiopulminary disease and cancer epidemic in this country.

I've found that diet and lifestyle are the biggest contributing

factors to the deteriation of the health of Americans. Hydrogenized

oils, refined carbohydrates, most processed foods, drinking pop

rather than water as a main thirst quencher, lack of exercise, and

the combination of chemical exposure from a variety of sources are

the major culprits in the cancer and heart disease epidemics. Farm

chemicals alone or even plastic containers by themselves do not cause

these types of diseases. The heart disease and cancer epidemics

actually started post World War II when the American lifestyle

started changing dramatically. Americans have been brainwashed into a

convenient, cheap driven mode of existence.

A website I've found to be extremely informative is

www.westonaprice.org. I'm sure many of you already know about it but

I thought I'd provide the link just in case.

I'm very careful about researching the information I read about the

dangers of all sorts of potentially cancer and heart disease causing

agents. I've found that there is valid concern over plastic number 3

packaging. However, the article posted recently describing the

dangers of all plastic containers and wraps has a lot of holes. It

was first circulated via email several years ago and caused a lot of

concern with the general public until it was discovered that the

email (and the television station who ran the original story) put a

spin on the story in order to sensationalize what the doctor was

actually trying to say. Below is a link to an article on Snopes.com

about the story, please read and judge for yourselves. I hate to play

the devil's advocate, especially on my first post, but the goal of

the counter movement for healthy living is finding the truth.

Thanks so much for the " ear " .

God bless!
