Hi Raven,

Your situation sounds very much like the symptoms of Fibromyalgia,

the sleep disorder that produces pain and tingling and weakness and

fatigue because you cannot reach the delta wave, tissue repair sleep.

If all the tests are negative for MS, you might want to see an arthritis

specialist which could diagnose Fibromyalgia with the ll out of the l8

tender points being the most common test.

Wishing you all the best. Fibromyalgia has been renamed " Abnormal

Neural Tension " by several bodyworkers because the pain tracts are full

of pain signal and they cannot clear well. There is management of

this disorder that requires a mind, body approach. Craniosacral therapy

and Myofascial Release are best since they don't cause pain---avoid

any painful therapies! And, meditation to quiet the mind is very

helpful. A good diet with lots of fruits and veggies and organic meats.

And......lots of rest, naps, meditation, sleep.

Your meds require the product " Ultraclear " from Metagenics to process

the phase two toxins so that you don't wake up in the middle of the

night with the heat of the Liver forcing its way up to the top of the

head.

This is all for now.

Leonor

P.S. none of these strategies will harm you even if you don't have

FMS.

Dear Caroline

What great training and experience you bring to this group... to people!

I'm so pleased to have found your group!

I started reading so many books this past year, including Caroline Myss,

Linda S. Leonard (Meeting the Madwoman), M.Woodman (The Pregnant Virgin,

etc.), and have read about 6 books the past two months for a gender

identity paper I'm doing for a womens' study class. I'm an older

returning student at the university... late 40's but I fit in just fine.

:>

I've been seeing a counselor for about eight months now. I started with

her a couple of months after losing my 19 year old son to suicide (he

was my middle child of five), and have continued for that reason and to

work on some trauma and abuse from my childhood. She reccomended Reiki

and other body work, and I met a woman, by " coincidence " while my

husband ( I was remarried in May of '98) and I were vacationing up north

in Michigan. I've had two sessions with her and they were tremendously

helpful in my healing and in my making choices regarding my deep emotions.

My husband is unbelievably supportive and encourages me in my searchings

and healings. He picked up N.Walsch's book " Conversations with God " in

the book store a few months ago; has read it and shared it with me. He

lived 18 years alone and raised both his kids after being married for a

few years, and has dealt with so much inner work that he is so

emotionally self sufficient... very unlike the needy people I've dealt

with all my life. Therefore, I have the foundation that I need to deal

with all that I am presently working on.

I'm not fond of the 'open intimates' but did want to introduce myself.

I'm a senior at the uni, majoring in Social-Psychology and Creative

Writing and have been lucky enough to recently have some poems published

by journals. My writing has been a life saver to me.

Looking forward to good discussions and sharing.

Hi to Tracy and the group. Though I've posted since joining last week I

really didn't take the time to introduce myself. I'm a pretty green newbie

to aromatherapy - in fact, very green - green as grass. I'm teaching myself

about aromatherapy and making my own soap and toiletries. I bought an AT

blend at our local health food store that has warming properties and contains

EOs beneficial in treating neuropathic pain. I was a bit skeptical, not

expecting a lot of help, and was surprised. It has made a big difference in

my illness and the level of function I can achieve on a day to day basis.

Now I'm trying to learn all I can and am in the process of figuring out what

oils I need to start with. Suggestions for a basic " kit " anyone? Thanks for

all the wonderful info I've picked up so far.

Gently,

Pam

Hi Cheryl,

The best type of diffuser to use for therapeutic purposes is a nebulizer

(does not use heat). Aromalamps are fine if you're just trying to scent a

room, but if you're diffusing EOs for therapeutic purposes, a good nebulizer

is the way to go.

Hi LeiAn

Nice to meet you! I'm in a similar situation to you - just joined the

group, long been interested in aromatherapy / alternative medicine, don't

know much about either (!), 31, married, no kids. I'm not planning on

becoming a professional aromatherapist, though, but would like to know more

about the oils and their applications for personal use. As I am a

biochemist (with an open mind) I would like to know more details about the

physiological and mood-enhancing effects of the oils, and also how to achieve

balanced blends of oils that still smell appealing! I think that with some

of the oils, less is more (eg ylang ylang?), but for therapeutic purposes,

how important is it to consider your likes and dislikes of the smells of

certain oils ie if a certain oil is perfect for a certain condition, but you

don't like that particular smell, should you include it in a blend?

Anyway I look forward to reading the posts to this group,

Asha

Hello, My name is Linda I live in Jacksonville, FL. I am new to

aromatherapy. I am studying Naturopathy. I am quite interested in the

subject and want to learn more about it. I am seeking a good school that will

be able to teach me the basics of it. I want to incorporate it into my

practice in Natural Medicine. I Richard did get married in Ipswich. What a

place. I lived in Felixstowe with my husband there. I then moved to Germany

and lived there for 10 years I now am back in my hometown in Jacksonville.

So I see there are a lot of familiarities here. I will be sitting and l

Hello from Chicago, Illinois, USA!

I am a Massage Therapist with a focus in Cranial Sacral Therapy,

Reflexology, and Vibrational Analysis. I would like to add Aromatherapy to

the mix.

Anyone in this group from the Chicagoland area?

Also, is anyone using oils and blends from Young Living? I'm looking for a

few companies in the states that produce Medicinal quality oils besides

Young Living. I want to compare their vibration quality.

Hello Folks,

Thank you, Crow, for your post. I did find an easier way to get

to the mini holistic videos. Just go to their site: vastvideo.com.

Also, yes, I did do a google search. Wow! There are a zillion sites

out there. Unfortunately the search engine didn't differentiate

between video and text. However, I do have a " robot voice speaker "

on my computer. So, for very long articles I can always switch and

have " Merlin " read it to me. Also, perhaps the local library has

some videos on these and relevant subjects.

Take care, all!

Hi Debbie!

Although I have " just " started learning acupuncture I already know

that treatmeant varies from doctor to doctor. Some use very few

points (and thereby needles) while others use as many as you have

mentioned. What shouldn't differ though, should be the diagnosis, as

the principles practitioners of TCM learn are (or should be) the

same. Each and every practitioner of TCM with the right knowledge

should come to the same conclusion.

If your 1st and 2nd opinion differ, I'd consider a 3rd and if

necessary 4th opinion.

Best wishes

I have been into classical Chinese medeicine since 1985 and TCM more formally

since 1994. Chinese philosophy and TaiJQi studies/practice back to 1971.

Without the details of the history it would be hard to analyze your questions

or situation.

The highest level of Chinese medicine is 'to keep a tranquil mind' and

you'all seem NOT to be doing that. Learn that lesson first or your practice

will never be worthwhile.

Multiple formulas are usually seen in better trained and results oriented

practitioners. I individualize formulations totalling 20-35 herbs in one

capsule and change weekly or bi-weekly but that's because I get results. So

this business of one formula for 3 months is grossly incorrect with rare

exceptions. YOU must learn as a practitioner to ALWAYS change whether the

patient gets worse, stays the same, or gets better. Of course ALWASY based on

diagnostics.

Quantity of needles are in part a function of the practitioner's training and

not necessarily good or bad. Don't use that as a guide. I rarely use needles

anymore and can effect the same kind of changes through the use of other more

ancient and much more effective oriental bodywork techniques such as Ba Guan

and Gua Sha. Remember that although you are learning the basic healing art of

primarily using needles that use is NOT the whole or end-all of oriental

medicine. Actually it's more like only 20%. OM is like western medicine in

the sense that there exists an heirarchy of many modalities/therapies and

each one has a best condition to use and a not so efficient condition to use.

The treatments that vary by a single doctor or from doctor to doctor ALSO is

meaningless. The ONLY thing that is important is results.

Sounds to me that your first practitioner was more well rounded in their

training but tried to accomplish too much too quickly for you. If you want

another opinion - go back and tell that first practitioner that they were

doing well until that last change - unless there is something else you didn't

transmit.

And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't believe everything you read. There is so much

limited minded stuff that is written these days.

Read, study, learn and keep ad always keep an open mind but DON'T let these

difference drag you down.

Does this make you more confused? If so LEARN to think logically and have the

energy to apply such logical thinking - then THINK for yourself. How do you

do that you might ask? Actually take a logic course in a college or buy a

book on logic and LEARN IT. Then apply it.

Hi Bonnie

Welcome. I see you found the right place. LOL

Bonnie helped me out on an other list. I asked a question (just like I

do here) and I was put down terribly. Bonnie wrote a really nice letter to

the group and stood up for me. I left the group and I guess she did to.

I feel very comfortable here.
