Guest guest
On the question of meat consumption, observation of one's bowel movements can give some information concerning how well the diet is agreeing with the health. Many eat far too much meat and fat. Ideally there should be one bowel movement for each meal. If the bowels are not moving or are backed up, reduction of hard-to-digest foods such as fat and meat could help. While fruits and vegetables take a few hours to digest, fat and meat can take 12 hours or more to digest. If you are constipated, these foods can sit in your intestinal tract and putrify. Studies have been done that link problems with the intestinal tract to lack of fiber intake. We need to have a lot of roughage to fill our intestinal tract and allow it to function normally. One way to do this is to eat a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables. Numerous health problems are associated with an unhealthy intestinal tract, so it is worth paying some attention to this part of your body. Nerve endings from all over the body end up in the intestinal tract. Pains in one part of the body can be sometimes traced back to a problem in the intestinal tract. Each part of the tract has nerves to different parts of the body. (Chinese medicine explores this.) One key to the health of your intestinal tract is your bowel movements: their color, smell, size, density, frequency. The bottom line is that Westerners typically need more fruit and vegetables and less meat and fat. Excerpt below from book, Internal Cleansing is an Old Movement, by Lee DuBelle " Identifying a Normal Bowel Movement " The colon is 2 1/2 inches in circumference and approximately five feet long. I want to explain to you how you can identify a normal bowel movement. A normal bowel movement will be approximately 2 1/2 inches around, the same as the colon. It will be dark in color because residue from the liver bile that breaks down red lood cells is dark in color. The healthy bowel movement will float on the top of the water and it will usually be long. A floating bowel movement shows you have good roughage, mucus, friendly bacteria, and other normal contents. If it is long your colon is cleaning and functioning fairly well. Everyday short, sinking bowel movements can mean many problems throughout the whole digestive tract.
