For the Family Pet

By: Renders N.D.

While puppies and cats have long become an extra family member, we

also recognize their value in hundreds of Nursing and Convalescent

Homes across the United States. Their visits to such facilities, it

has been noted, have significantly lifted the moods and spirits of

many shut-ins, alleviated depression in some and even lowered blood

pressure readings of others.

Therefore, we can easily understand the concern of such pet owners

when their " extra " family member is not feeling well. In this close

relationship between the family pet and the owner, the responsibility

of taking care of the pets' needs can often put a dent into the

family budget. Remembering that should your pet become ill or exhibit

serious symptoms such as fever, loss of appetite, noticeable weight

loss or other symptoms, which may require the fidyl expertise of a

Veterinarian, we hope that you do not hesitate to contact your Vet.

For minor problems which might save you an unnecessary trip to the

Vet, along with the added cost of pet prescriptions, you may want to

consider a few of the following:

* Black Walnut Extract: Kills and expels worms

* Cascara Sagrada: Relieves constipation, improves digestion.

* Cornsilk: Soothes inflammation of the kidney & bladder

* Echinacea: Boosts the immune response and helps to keep your pet

healthy

* Red Raspberry: Strengthens the uterus, helpful in labor prior to

delivery

* Tea Tree Oil: Anti-fungal, add to bath water regularly to kill

fleas.

* Valerian Extract: Calming, helpful when given prior to a nail

clipping or grooming

* Vitamin E: 400 IU, (the heart and circulation vitamin)

* Yellow Dock: Made into a tea and used to swab the ears may prevent

ear mites.

* Zinc: 25 mg. Will encourage a healthy coat growth, hormones and

Speed healing.

has some wonderful books offered at her site. One that I have

read is: " HOLISTIC COOKBOOK " FINALLY, a Cookbook that is designed

for maintaining health, supporting the Immune system, and targeting

antagonists which contribute toward deficiencies and imbalances. Who

says one must sacrifice taste in order to enjoy health? Recipes are

included.
