Guest guest
Acupuncture question: I've recently had patient requests that I learn NAET, and have been checking it out a bit. I haven't heard enough about it from those not selling it, and am interested in any of your experiences/ideas on it. It makes heavy use of muscle testing, which was briefly discussed a few weeks ago. Any information or opinions are welcome--it looks like it would cost at least $1000 (with ongoing requirements) to be 'certified' in NAET, plus a trip to LA (*yuck* ;-) Welcome Marjorie! I went to ICTCM in Victoria in 1994 (the last year Henry Lu was teaching there, I believe), then transferred to OCOM. If you see Lai Na, Henry, or Hor Ming Lee, say hello for me! Guest guest
Well, I'll swallow the bait. NAET has nothing to do with Chinese medicine. . . .it uses a hybrid of techniques from acupuncture, clinical ecology, combo homeopathy and kinesiology, and the philosophy is from chiropractic and touch for health. It uses the same basic points on every patient, and doesn't utilize pattern diagnosis, pulse or tongue examination. It trivializes in-depth, individualized medicine for a highly suggestible kinesiological testing which is non-reproducible. If your patients respect you, they shouldn't tell you what you should be learning. It took you several years to be certified in Chinese medicine, and you are still studying. Any technique you learn in a short seminar for instant use in the clinic is a sham. It irritates me constantly to think that 'quick-fix' medicine, that suppresses symptomatic response rather than healing patients from within, is making inroads into Chinese medicine. The first stone I felt energy from was an amethyst cluster, I still have it - tho my hubby borrowed it for his reiki station, and as I had only kept it for sentimental reasons , well I didn't mind loaning it out for a bit At that point I knew nothing about crystals - other than they were pretty - but that piece of amethyst has since led me to learn more, and buy more , and now do my Crystal healing. llb Hazel _______________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp

Guest guest
Wondering if there was a option to create a mini directory of everyone in this group and their specialities. I'm a techno nerd so don't know if that is feasible or not in this chat group. Guest guest
Yes it is possible. In another group I am, there is a option to pick database at the side menu and you can make tables of information for various things. I don't own a group, so I don't know how they do it. I just know its possible. And by the way I am new to this group, invited by Misty. HI!! I will probably be posting a test case for aspiring Homeopaths... I really could use some help. Guest guest
Hi Lisa, Sandy, & All... Sandy, the mini-directory sounds like a wonderful idea! And Lisa, a database sounds like the way to go... By the way, I am glad you joined us... How is your daughter doing? So everyone, I am open to ideas on how we should do this... Is the idea to create a general directory that everyone on the group can join? Do we want a directory of just the practitioners? And maybe a separate one for the laypeople? Is that distinction going to offend anyone? I want every member of our group to know they are highly valued and appreciated.... Everyones comments on what exactly we want to create, and how to do it are very much welcomed! Be Well, Misty http://www..com , " Lisa Fisher " <malica98@p...> wrote: > Yes it is possible. Guest guest
Re acupuncture points and what they are I have been noticing that insects usually bite or sting me at acupuncture points. Has anyone else been noticing that? Enrico Viselli, LAc Manhattan and Westchester, NY offices 212-316-6476 / 914-632-1896
Guest guest
hi sypho it seems to me that if you could get some of those companies who make lots of money using the initials TCM to fund some of the research that you speak of so that western medicine (WM) can be studied from a TCM herbal viewpoint so that a real blending of the concepts of TCM into WM vocabulary. i think that is the real problem. there is no common language between TCM & WM from the TCM point of view. it seems that I spend a lot of time talking in the WM vocabulary when I speak to PT's RN's and MD's. Unfortunately I just realized that I only speak in a TCM vocabulary when I speak to my patients or TCM colleagues. how does one introduce TCM in a positive way without alienating or worse totally confusing WM practitioners?
