Dear Datta family,

 

There is a beautiful prayer in Gujarati language called Datta Bavani. In a

simple tune, it describes beautifully in 52 lines the glories of our Dattatreya

Sadgurudeva. Many of the episodes it refers to are found in the books Sri Guru

Samhita and Sri Datta Darsanam.

 

Lord Dattatreya's favorite haunt is the Sahyadri mountain range, situated

in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and northern Karnataka states in India. There are many

Datta devotees there.

 

Sri Swamiji Himself has learnt Datta Bavani and has sung it in the Gujarati

Namarchan CD. It is being chanted every Thursday in the Baton Rouge temple by

Datta devotees since Sri Swamiji's visit in August 2009.

 

It will be nice if we all learnt it and chanted it with devotion. May be

even sing it for Sri Swamiji when He comes here in April, if an opportunity

arises.
