to the lands we have forgotten,look to the mountains and ridgewaysand the steep valleys, quilted by green,here, as the last words fall away,the great and silent rivers of lifeare flowing into the oceans,

and on a day like any otherthey will carry you again,abandoned,on the currents you have fought,to the place where you did not knowyou belonged.And just as you came into lifesurprised

you go out again,lifted,cloud-hiddenfrom one unknownto anotherand fall and turnand appear again in the mountainsnot rememberinghow in the beginningyou refusedto join,could not speak of,

did not even knowyou were thatdeepcalmwellingalmost forgottenspringof eternal presence.~ David Whyte ~
